We will be traveling to Disneyworld November 12-17, does anyone know if all the Holiday Decorations will already be up? I know they will have the Christmas parade, just wasn't sure if all the hotels and parks will already be decorated. thanks! Also have never been this time of year, what are some holidays things we should not miss?

Most of it will be up. They start putting up Christmas decorations around the 1st of November. The Osbourne lights are scheduled to be operational by 11/11/2013 this year, so the parks and resorts should be 90%-100% finished when you arrive.

Most of the decorations should be up or being put up as you are there.

There are so many great holiday things to see and do at Disney.
First, there is MVMCP. This is a special event held after the park closes on select nights. They do the Christmas parade (only way to see it during your stay), special shows (only way to see them during your stay), character meet and greets, rides, cookies and cocoa, and it snows on Main Street. It does require a special ticket (not a regular park ticket).

Epcot's Christmas shows do not start until the day after Thanksgiving so you will miss them. Although the Land will display gingerbread creations of Disney icons.

HS does the Osborne Lights. The Streets of America are completely draped in an amazing light display that "dance" to music. It is very hard to describe (think Clark Griswold's display on steroids), but it is a must-do. Best part of Disney at the holidays in my opinion.

AK does the Jingle Jammin' parade every afternoon beginning on 11/9. It is a cute parade. Many of the characters throughout the park are dressed in holiday outfits as well.

DTD does the Festival of the Seasons. The shops and stores are decorated. Sometimes it has some holiday performances. Santa is there for visits (not sure when that starts though).

The resorts are also decorated and several have signture trees or gingerbread displays:'
WL: signature tree
GF: signature tree and huge gingerbread house
BW: gingerbread gazebo
CR: huge gingerbread tree
BC: gingerbread carousel
AKL: signature tree

Finally, just take the time when walking around to gaze at all of the decorations throughout the world. They really are detailed and lovely.

Enjoy your vacay. You will love Disney for the holidays.

My DW and I will be there that week celebrating our 25th anniversary. We have always taken the kids and we always went the first week of December because we wanted to be there for the Christmas season. No kids this time and going in early November we thought we were going to miss out on the decorations/music/seasonal fun. Glad to hear that we may not miss out at all. Thanks for the great news!!!!!!!

We were at the BC about that time last year. When we checked in on a Sunday the BC was not decorated but (I think it was Wed) one morning I got up around 6 am went out into the upper lobby to make my way down the stairs for coffee and saw the tree was up, the window displays were decorated, and the Carousel was being assembled. By the time we got back to take a mid-afternoon break from the park, the carousel was complete and turning. ENJOY!!!

Was there last year to catch the end of the Food and Wine Festival and was able to see the Gingerbread House at the Grand Flo being assembled. They even set out the cut off pieces of the Gingerbread for the guests to enjoy. Real tasty (if you like gingerbread -- got to eat my wife's share since she does not care for anything with ginger.....) Stayed at WL and saw the tree go up and the Villas at the WL was decorated.

Not sure about timing, but some holiday things to enjoy include:

Osborne Lights Show at DHS (find the purple cat)
If you don't attend MVMCP, you can still see Holiday Wishes from the Observation Deck of Cali Grill
Life-size gingerbread house at Grand Floridian
Chocolate carousel at Beach Club
Decorations at the parks and special seasonal snacks

If things go right, we'll be there Nov. 14th - 18th. We usually do early December, but my daughter's college schedule won't allow for that this year. We were going to do a Halloween party weekend, but when I read this could possibly be the last year for Osborne, at least for a while, we really wanted to do the lights one more time.
We won't get there until 2 or 3 in the morning since we have to wait for her to get out of class on the 14th. She has Monday's off, so we'll get to stay for all of Sunday and leave Monday morning.

We were there last year for Veteran's Day weekend and the Osbourne lights were up and running that Saturday before the holiday day. There was a cold spell then, so that only added to the holiday feeling.

While it may seem early by a few weeks, the Christmas feeling starts to catch hold while at Disney even in early November.

At that point, the MK parade will still be exclusive to the party only. Normal park guests cannot see it until after the last MVMCP.
