What happens to retired WDW holiday decorations?
Retired, as in they're so worn out they can't be used anymore? They probably trash those.
But they re-purpose just about anything that's still in good condition. They catalog everything, from ornament balls down to light bulbs. They're in HUGE bins in a HUGE warehouse behind the MK. They build garland, wreaths, trees and other decorations using all the parts and pieces.
As for things like the LoW from Epcot, I think I recall seeing a photo of them in the bone yard at one time.
They catolog every bulb?! That's insane.
I can understand every wreath on main street, or every toy soldier, but every light?
@Tom , you seem like the guy to ask, my wife and I were talking about the snowmen on top of the parking lot ticket booths and the giant tree on main street...where do they store all the LARGE decorations from different seasons?
The snow men are inflatable and the trees break down into 3 or 4 sections - all stored at Holiday services warehouse. They catolog every bulb?! That's insane.

Yep they sit up on the top of the parking plaza throughout the party seasons. They then inflate them around 4pm on each party day.Had no idea the snowmen were inflatable! Thanks @wdwmagic
