Sounds like the new Macau Fisherman's Wharf is going to compete with HKDL...

Chinese Ming Castle vs Sleeping Beauty Castle?
Fisherman's Wharf Mainstreet vs Mainstreet USA?
Roller Coaster inside Volcano Vs Space Mountain?
Flying Camel vs Dumbo Flying Elephant???

First off thanks for all of your posts and keeping us informed about HK!

About Macau Wharf, it reminds me of a little of Lotte World in Korea. Trying real hard to be Disney, but not quite getting it.
Maybe it's just that picture but the outside shot of the Volcano looks like a cheap ripoff of Mt. Prometheus at TDL. Inside doesn't look bad, but they do not make an effort to hide the coaster track.
The flying camels just do not look right to me.
And I don't understand the palm trees on that Main Street/New Orleans Sq. picture.
On the plus side the Ming Castle looks great, very Mulan looking.
The water effect inside the volcano is nice.
And a great view from that outdoor cafe.
Oh and the girl is kind of cute.

It's far from being a great park, but I don't think HKDL needs to worry about The Wharf. Ocean park with all of the expansion plans should be the biggest worry.
Any idea how many attraction the Wharf will have?

Hey Thanks!
It is definitely Disney Sea Lite.
It's actually not too bad. Disney is NOT going to be happy with Aladin & Vulcania. But what can you do? No copyright.
The Legend Wharf seems to be a World Showcase knock-off. Interesting choice of locations. Not sure why Capetown would feature Japanese food.
I curious to see what the Victorian Hotel is going to look like :lookaroun
Well, it looks better than Lotte World, but still not Disney Class.
Oh and Vanessa Mae is HOT (but we already knew that).

What I'm curious about is Ocean Park and how much of a hit it's taken since Disney opened up. Very curious indeed.

The attendance in Ocean Park has increased rather than decreased since the opening of Disneyland in hk.

HK Ocean Park is going to compete with HK Disney...they are going to tear down almost all rides and build new ones! HK Government has approved HK$5.5 billion redevelopment Plan for HK Ocean Park. Phase 1 redevelopment starts in 2006 and completed in 2008/2009. Phase 2 redevelopment starts right after phase 1 and to be completed by 2010/2011. So Watch Out HK Disneyland!!

I actually had a really good time at Lotte World. I couldn't believe the castle. At first I thought Disney must have helped them. This Macau place does seem eerily similar in attempt to TDS in certain areas. I guess imitation and flattery, and all that...

And yes, the Volcano will have to compete with Miss Nicholson for hottest entity.

I had no idea her last name was Nicholson.
My knowledge of her doesn't really get past a few Maxim Magazine articles.:D
Shameful.

I've always been curious about Disney knock off parks (Lotte, this new place and that really creepy one in Japan that has the awful looking Matterhorn).

Any1 interested in "HelloKittyLand"?

"HelloKittyLand" will be built in Macau. There will be a 4-star hotel. One of the companies behind this project is a japanese company, probably associated with the HelloKittyLand in Japan.

Well it's about time!! I would have thought they'd have built one in China by now. I've seen pics of Hello Kitty Land on another site, and it's kinda cute. Especially if you're into Hello Kitty.

My girlfriend certainly is.
Her Hello Kitty obsession is comparable to my Disney obsession.
We have an oddly decorated condo to say the least.

any pics to share?

Do you really think I want that kind of thing out on the internet?

I'll look around at home later to see if I can find some of the less embarassing ones...
