HK Disneyland Replaces Shark Fin Soup With Seafood Soups

HONG KONG (AP)--Lobster soups and seafood bouillons will replace the controversial shark fin soup at Hong Kong Disneyland wedding banquets, making the banquets more affordable, a Disney spokeswoman said.
Prices of the wedding banquet menus, originally priced at HK$7,888 to HK$10,888 per table of twelve, will go down by HK$2,000 each after the shark fin soup is scrapped, spokeswoman Irene Chan said.
The expensive dish will be replaced by a dish with sea whelk, a bouillon with bamboo fungus and crab roe, and a lobster soup in each of the three grades of menu prices. In June, Disney decided to scrap shark fin soup, a symbol of prestige in Chinese banquets, from their wedding menus after a month of fierce opposition and boycotting threats from environmentalists around the world.
