Hit By Fireworks

Just before Christmas in Epcot, near the Italian section we were watching Illuminations, near the end when about 10 sets of fireworks fly over the top from around World Showcase, a person about 30 feet from us was hit by a wayward firework, they were taken away on a stretcher. Does anyone one know what the injuries were or how the spectator is.

I can't answer your questions, but I can relate to your story....We were watching RoE, and a guy got in the bushes on the other side of the fence to get good video without people in it. However, there are fireworks launchers right on the walls of the lagoon in about 8 places....the guy had his legs over the edge, and a CM never caught them in there, so when it went off, the firework trail singed his leg...he was more than scared and almost fell into the lagoon....

Around the cantina in Mexico and the bridge, are other spots where there are fireworks launchers. I always had to get people off there....

It wasnt a problem as to where he was, there was about 100 spectators on the viewing area, he was the unfortunate one to be hit, It looked as if one of the fireworks from the launchers went astray, and just went in the wrong direction. The launchers werent run for the next 2 weeks while we were there. They would have done that just as a precaution, I presume.

WOW I was there in December also but I dont think on the day this happened. The only time I have ever seen an "issue" with ROE was one of the small firework barges caught on fire. Near France. The fire was quickley put out by ROE engineers

The same thing happened to me once. I was watching from the France "island" one night when a piece of firework blew under my glasses and into my eye. I know it wasn't the park's fault or my fault though. I just happened to be near where some of the perimeter fireworks were shot off, and the wind was blowing in my direction.

I wouldn't sue either, but nowadays, people sue for anything. I might try to get a lifetime pass free or something, but that's bout it.........hehehehe

Yeah, that can be nasty even if a small piece lands on you and it is still burning, The one that hit this spectator was about 3 inches diameter, enough to knock him out.

Nasty. The park is responsible for this though, it is their fault. I could see a judge ruling in the persons favor.

Psssh.

Fireworks are always more exciting when there is a possibility of being hit. At a show, you would always hear more "Ooooohhhss" and "Aaahhhhhssss" when people narrowly avoid being hit by an incoming firework.

It's just a small part of the Disney magic!

The park is responcible yes, however there is a disclamer on the back of the ticket like at any theme park waving rights to sue and that good stuff...

There is absolutely nothing about waiving rights to sue. What it DOES say however, is that court cases must be litigated in Florida.

I would SUE!!

You see, I would definately sue them. BUT.....being the Diz fan that I am, I would simply use the money for my next trip. If I were hit, I would love to work out a settlement that would give me and my family passes, lodging, and food in perpituity. I would want lifelong WDW passes. Oooooh......the just the sound of that makes me excited!!

It dosent say that (even if it did it wouldn't hold water). Like said above it is about you can only sue in FL.
