Historical AP Discounts and Previous Experiences?

This November, DW and I are going on a DCL 7-night W.C. cruise for our anniversary. Since we have APs, we're consdering spending a few nights at WDW too. Well, since we already have the plane tickets and baby sitting arranged, I guess we _are_ spending a few extra days in Orlando :) Just where (or even on-property or not), though, depends on the AP discount.

We're considering the Poly. The Swan and Dolphin AP discount looked really good (we've always been interested in staying there and our DVC property is BWV, so we know we like the area), but it's not good for the time we'll be there (the nights of the 15th - 17th). We're trying to get a feel for where to set our sites and possibly pre-booking so that we know we'll have the dates we need.

Are the Value Season AP discounts usually about the same from year to year? If so, is there some place where I can find the historical AP discounts? For the people who have used their AP discounts in the past, what properties have been the best deals? For example, have the moderate resorts usually had the best AP discounts? The deluxe resorts? Is there any correlation or does it just depend on what the accountants at WDW are feeling like when they're announced? Heck, are the Value Season AP discounts even worth it or should we just book something we can afford now and if we get lucky with a little AP discount, then we get lucky?

(Gosh-durnit! Why won't they just announce them so we can get on with our planning!?!?!! :fork: )

Anyway, thanks for letting my pick your brains. (Mmmmmm, brains...... :slurp: )

As near as I can tell, passholder rates are set about 3months in advance so that Disney can determine how full the resorts will be. Capacity determines how steep the discounts will be.

The links s25843 provided will be as accurate as you can find, but since WDW's traffic seems to be recovering, to some degree, I am unclear how well to trust the trends.

Passholder rates for your dates should be out any time now [although I haven't checked] so hold off a few days. If you can't find anything I suggest you book as well as you can now. When you book, ***MAKE CERTAIN YOU TALK TO SOMEONE WHO WILL BOOK USING THE CRO SYSTEM, NOT THE WDTC SYSTEM *** so you can get better cancellation policies in case something better does come up. (There's another thread about this).
