Hilton Head Overhaul Concept

Hello there! I do want to do something about the downsides of mono-IP lands sometime, but the subject would be too much of an irritant with recent reveals in mind, so I decided to do something else that has been residing comfortably in the back of my head since I went to Aulani and thought about the other stand-alone Disney resorts. Given how poorly some of them ended up initially performing, it sure doesn’t seem like we’ll have a new one any time soon (unless hopefully they’re handled more like Tokyo) but some of the extant ones could use makeovers to become fuller experiences to the consumer, similar to Aulani’s extensive theming and amenities.

Case in point? Hilton Head. Hilton Head, as it stands, is the least-developed of Disney’s standalones, and is barely any better than WDSP (and this is only because WDSP got some lousy recycled band-aids over its poor structure later on). Some of the features not included, such as a full-service restaurant, were disclosed because of a desire to allow guests to experience the cooking of local Gullah restaurants first-hand. As Aulani was crafted with a ton of research and authentic amenities like a luau, thanks to the local culture’s assistance, (it’s one of the best imagineering projects under Iger), I feel like a revamp of Hilton Head should have active cooperation (and at least co-ownership, for that matter) with the Gullah to create an authentic and rich experience, providing support to these people all the while.

To begin with, Hilton Head will notably obtain a dinner menu for Signals, more faithful to Gullah cuisine than the breakfast and lunch menus. A sit-down may also be added to the grounds, with approval from the locals, dedicated to supporting them with earnings and exposure. Character dining is also added as an incentive for general consumers. To top it all off, a new friend of Duffy (i was thinking of either an octopus or a non-avian dinosaur) will be introduced for the revamped Hilton Head, serving as a mascot and meetable character. Something similar to the Menehune adventure trail is also present, an interactive walkthrough trail located on the outdoor courtyard.

There would also potentially be a bigger addition to the resort… I’m thinking it should either be a water park or an indoor VR park.

Maybe they could secretly buy up all the land around it and build another theme park. That would certainly bring up the value of the area.
Sounds cool but that park would be in too close in proximity to WDW for it to work. I think maybe a DisneyQuest revival &/or a water park would work instead as a compromise.
