Thinking about going to HHN in 2014 - never been before - how "early" can you get into Universal for HHN? Is it like MK where you can get in at 4pm and wander around?

Any info is appreciated!

Nope, no admission before 6:30 with just a HHN ticket. However, they do offer discounted combos if you buy a day ticket and a HHN ticket for that same night, and that allows you to stay in the park and see a few of the houses a bit earlier than everyone else, generally about a half-hour earlier.

Thanks @71jason for your quick response. I'll probably take a day off of my Disney Park Hopper then for the night we decide to go to HHN. Might look into the combo ticket.

The extra half-hour makes a difference in being able to see everything in one night. Last year it took people up to an hour to get in the park after going through security and having to wait in line at the main gate.

I was looking at the site & I think it's smart to do the combo pass. We'll spend the day at IOA and Potterland then head over to US for HHN in 2014. We're also going to go on an "off-night" like a Thursday or Tuesday.

Event is never on Tuesday (except for the 31st itself)--and those nights when it's on a Wednesday, you don't want to be there (always a sign local schools are out the next day). Thursday is good, Friday is surprisingly not bad. Avoid Saturday/Sunday.

The good news is by October 2014, you'll be able to ride the train from Hogsmeade to London. (That's also assuming HHN 2014 is exclusively in US, way too early to make that call.)

I haven't been to HHN for the last couple of years, but went for 11 years in a row, last year being 2009. We tried going on a Saturday once, and never repeated the experience. We almost always went on a Sunday and had pretty good luck. We always bought the fast pass as I don't like to wait in lines, but probably could have done without it. The only time we ever had an issue on a Sunday night was the year we went on a Sunday & Columbus Day was the next day. (Columbus Day is a holiday for Orange County schools.) We also went in 2007 on Halloween night which happened to be a Wednesday. The crowds were nothing. We saw everything we wanted to see by 10:30pm.

It's definitely worth the extra money to be in the park when they close down between regular day guests & HHN guests. The line to get in at the front gate is crazy.

The E-tickets are open. Mummy, MiB, Simpsons ... can pretty much guarantee Transformers will be, too, and most likely Despicable Me as well.
