My family and I are planning a trip to WDW. We are trying to do things the cheapest way possible, yet it still feel like a vacation. What resort should we stay in? If buying one annual pass worth the discounts? What are the discounts with the AP? Any other information on how to do WDW cheap would be wonderful. We will be driving straight through without stopping all the way from central Texas. We want to stay for 10 days. Any other informaton I can give that will help you give me hints, just ask. Thanks in advance!

My suggestion to you would be to contact Kingdom Konsultants and see what they can do for you. Pam and her crew are experts and have been known to work a near miracle or two in their day.

You might search for some other threads, as this is a popular topic. Here are some of my hints if you really want to go and make it as cheap as possible.

  • You really can find cheaper deals in offsite hotels and condos. You don't get to stay onsite, but it's not bad. If onsite is a must, go with Pop Century.
  • Exception to the above: If you can go when you get free dining that is the best deal there is. (You have to purchase a package and stay onsite.)
  • If you don't have the package, have a large meal at a table service for lunch (or a full meal counter service like Tusker House), have a nice snack in the early evening, and have supper in your room once you get back.
  • Avoid buying souveniers until close to the end of the trip.
  • Take water bottles into the park - don't spend money on drinks just because you are thirsty.
  • Staying 10 days is great because the tickets get cheaper by the day for the more you get.

Here are a few more ideas,
one of the best ways to cut costs is to not pay the high prices for food on property.

bring some goodies from the super market like the little cereal boxes that kids love. This way you can eat breakfast in your room. Also if you have pretzels, chips etc you can snack in your room.

If you have younger children who are going to want sweets, bring lollypops, jelly beans, etc in with you.

Also juice boxes and water bottles for in the park so you will not have to buy drinks.

If you do not have the dining plan you can also pack PB&J sandwhiches for lunch to save while at the parks. If you can get a mini fridge and bring a small cooler you can make other sandwhiches.

Most onsite resorts sell mugs in the food court area, though these are expensive you have free refills at the resort, and after 10 days will be cheaper than buying drinks.

also you can purchase the basic ticket that doesn't have the park hopper option.

We stayed at pop century last summer and had a blast!

When you are in the parks, you can get a cup of ice for free. When my little one was still on sippy cups, we got it for free everytime we asked. Also, you can get a cup of water for free as well. Just asked for a cup of water and they have given it to us in the past. You may want to check out mousesavers.com. They have great tips on money saving at WDW. Also, if you are curious how much the food cost, check out allearsnet.com. They have a price list and menu for various locations, including in the park as well at the hotels.

We always stay at the value resorts. The price is great and it is very relaxing. We love to take our refillable mugs in the evenings and get a snack at the food court before turning in for the night. We figure we rather spend the money in the parks instead of on a room we are not going to be in for long.

If you are driving, it is easier to pack your own snacks and breakfast items, like cereal. We take our own refridgerator and keep drinks cold there. That won't work if you are flying. We have before and used Tiffany Towncar and we were got a 30 min stop at a grocery store to pick up a few snacks before heading to the hotel.

Hope this helps. :dazzle: :dazzle:

I would have to say IMO you will save more by staying on property. You will save on gas money, plus you won't have to drive anywhere for however long you are there because you will have WDW transportation everyday:lol: . Also, I agree with bringing food with you. Having snacks in the room saves tons of money. The refillable mugs are somewhat expensive ($11.99) but after 2 days for us it had paid for itself. We also save tons of money by eating dinner at the resorts food court. We were at Pop Century about 3 weeks ago, and their food court is fantastic. We also tend to get the kids meals at the parks for lunch, which are cheaper than a full meal, and they are a fairly large meal for a kid I must say, at least to us anyway. WDW is going to be expensive no matter what, but there are tons of ways to save. I highly recommend purchasing the Birmbaum's Walt Disney World Guide. We buy it every year and it gives great money saving tips as well. Good luck !
