Hey everyone, My fiance and I are looking to bring 2 friends down to the world during the last weekend of food and wine in nov 2010. our home resort is OKW, and we always stay there, have never tried to stay anywhere else. We would love to stay at the Boardwalk for this long weekend, what are my odds of actually getting a 1br at the boardwalk for that time? should I book OKW at 11 months then call at 7 months for boardwalk? Like i said, we have never tried to stay anywhere but OKW so I am kinda of lost.

Bookings in the Epcot resort DVC are pretty tight during that time. We managed it last year but that was the first year out of three we were able to get in.

I recommend doing exactly what you described. If unsucessful at the 7 month mark you can always be waitlisted. Other experiences may differ, but I have never gotten a resort that I was waitlisted for.

Yes, book your home resort at the 11 month window just to be sure you have a place. It'd be really bummed if I waited and couldn't get anything.

DH is at OKW right now and he said the bus ride to Epcot is really quick so even if you don't get a different resort, at least it won't take you forever to get to the park!

We were able to get into the Boardwalk this year for the 2nd week in October, and we made our reservations in mid-June. We couldn't book earlier, as we just got our DVC points in June. We were looking for a Monday->Sunday, and initially were able to get everything except Thursday night at the Boardwalk. Apparently Sunday and Thursday nights are difficult due to the cruise bookings. The only facilities available on Thursday night were Saratoga Springs and OKW. So we got a reservation for Thursday night at Saratoga Springs and wait-listed at Boardwalk for the 1 night (and also wait-listed at BCV for the full 6-nights as another backup). About 3 weeks later, the wait-list cleared and we have all 6 nights at the Boardwalk now. We are in a 1-bedroom.

The only issue we've had is that the reservations are supposedly linked, but the dining reservations system only sees the first one.

You also need to monitor your wait-list status on the DVCMembers web site. You will eventually get notified that it has cleared, but will see as soon as it does on the web site.

Definitely book the home resort first and then try BWV at the 7 month window. Owning BWV, we've had trouble at times at 11 months at peak times, this year we're arriving 12/31 and had to wait list that night for a while, but it cleared. Good luck!
