help with annual passes questions i have....

hi we are going back to our second home in feb 2014 for our 8th trip, we love disney world florida so much we got married there on our 4th trip.This is my problem i did'nt know you could have annual passes even if you did'nt live in the states or was not a florida resident. We are going for three weeks as normal we pop over to daytona and do the nascar aswel why we are there. So i booked our room and 21 day park hopper tickets through walt disney travel company the 21 day passes work out at £305 each, the annual passes work out at just over £400 each for us. I'm thinking i would soon save that extra £100 each plus more over our trip with the discount of food and merch you get with the annual passes( we spend so much money at disney). Plus also if we have them in the future money of the hotel etc. This is where i have my problem as i said already booked our 21 day passes for this trip when i rang up they said not to cancel them as i would be charged a cancel fee but when i get to resort swap our passes there for the annual passes and pay the difference sounds easy but.... I'm thinking has any one else done this at the resort or guest relations. I'm wondering as we get such a good price on the 21 day ticket in england will they let us swap it to a annual pass??. Also i have set us up on my disney experience for our trip in the hope that fast pass plus will be working and the magic bands for our trip. Say that they are all working fine and i have booked all our fast passes etc to our 21 day ticket and then we can swap when we get there to the annual how is this going to effect my bands and what i have already pre booked. Also im dreaming that one year we might be able to go again later in the year for another week so would be handy to already have tickets and discount of hotel room etc... Sorry this was a long question but hopefully somebody can help me decide..

I don't know how they handle upgrades for the UK 21-day tickets, but I imagine it's the same as any other tickets, the full value of the ticket is applied to the cost of an AP, you only pay the difference [not sure what impact exchange rates would have] and the resultant AP has a start date of the first day the 21-day ticket was used.

For the rest, whatever you have set up on MDE should readily transfer to whatever RFID media you have, so your Magic Bands would have it all and it would be associated with your AP ticket's RFID chip as well as long as they associate your AP to your MDE account.

Depending on room-only discounts that may be available, it might be worth investigating how much the cancellation fees are and whether an AP room discount would be enough to cover the fee and save you more...
