HELP! Sorcerer Mickey party ideas needed!

 Hi Everyone

My 5 year old LOVES the Fantasmic show at MGM and decided that this year he wants a birthday party with that theme! Cool yes, hard to plan for, definitely! :brick:

First off, there's no party supply stores that carry anything like Sorcerer Mickey so I was going to buy black plates for eating. I couldn't even find a Mickey Mouse pinata so I'm going to "TRY" to make a Sorcerer Mickey pinata (we'll see how that goes). I took TONS of pictures at MGM this past summer and have some pictures that I can blow up for decorations on the walls. My son even had his picture taken with Sorcerer Mickey which I'm going to use as well. I'm going to make blue party hats with the glow in the dark stars and black construction paper ears for the kids to wear. I have a big Mickey Mouse shaped cookie pan that I'm going to make cookies from as well as rice krispy treats. Going to use a mickey head cut out for mickey mouse PBJ sandwiches for the kids. I'm also ordering some grown up food from Browns' Chicken for the grownups. All in all, I'm expecting about 25 children and 40 adults. It's at a park district building.

Any party game ideas????? Any other food items that you can think of to serve? My son asked for fireworks and that's impossible, especially at the park district building. A magician perhaps? What do you guys think?

If anyone has any party ideas, I'd greatly appreciate hearing them!
Thanks so much!!!!!

How about pin the Sorcerer's hat on Mickey? And maybe musical chairs to the music played in the cartoon. That's all I can think of for now, but if I think of any others, I'll let you know!

I’ve been to a few children’s birthday parties and one of the parties themes was MAGIC and it reminded me a bit of Fantasmic. One of the activities that kept the kids busy for awhile is teaching them how to do a magic trick. The fun part is getting the kids to guess how the trick was done, so don’t share your magic secrets immediately. I’ll PM you a link so you can find a trick suitable to teach kids.
Another activity is Follow the ball under the hat trick. Use 3 sorcerer mickey hats and put a ball under one of the 3 hats. Move them around and have the kids guess under which hat the ball is under and the right guesser receives a prize.

I'll post more if I can think of anything else. :)

Ooooooooh, this is the kind of thread that gets me Riled Up :) .
Ok, where to begin, where to begin???Well, I'll start off with the Fireworks.
I myself have been trying to come up with a simple but effective (and cheap ;) ) way to create fake fireworks. I have found something that I find effective and plan to use for F-, I mean, things :animwink: . Anyway, I found this shiny shredded colored cellphane, the reflective kind, not the translucent kind, and I found that if you take handful of it, tape it at the bottom, take a small fan, point the fan up, fix the cellphane to the front middle of the fan, turn the fan on and point a light at it, it gives off a convincing effect of fireworks. The good news, Its Perfectly Safe! No noise, no danger, you can't beat that! Anyway, any questions about that just PM me :D .
Games?
Hmm, lets see, I like Strangers Idea of Pin the Hat on the Mickey, and you said you wanted a Pinata, which If you need help with that on what to do, just let me know. Actually, just to be sure, (you may know what to do, you may not, I dunno, so I'm just making sure) Take 2 latex Baloons and fill them up. One should be slightly Egg Shaped and the other as round as you can get it. Take a bunch of newspaper and cut it into strips about one inch wide and 4 inches long. Don't bother measuring, just use your logic to tell you that "this about this long" and " that is about that long", you get it. Anyway, mix equal parts of Water and Flour together to make the paper mache mix. Don't make alot, as you will not need alot and if you need more, just mix a little more water and flour into it. Attach the Balloons together by some means with the little openings (tied, of course) touching. Make sure the round one is on top and the Egg like one on Bottom. The Round one will be the head and the egg shaped one will be the body.cover them entirely with the dipped strips of newspaper. Remember,The more layers you put, the harder it is to break him open. Take some cardboard toilet paper tubes (4 of them unless you'd prefer a disconfigured Mickey with one more or one less limb :p). Attach them desired positions to create Mickeys Arms and legs. Paint the entire body red, the arms and legs Black, His head with the Mickey Face(use a picture as reference if wanted). Drape some red felt around his waist that drapes down to the bottom of his legs. This will be the bottom part of the robe. If you would like some sort of Tie rope thing like Mickey has, just tie some gold Yarn around his waist. For hands and feet, socks can be used for his feet and old gloves or socks can become the hands. Using a sharp knife, cut a whole in the back and place the candy in. Glue the part you cut out back in place and paint over the glue.
Make another one of the Hats you talked about (I really like those, they sound GREAT!) and place it on his head for the hat and the ears. Secure it there somehow. Attach a string to his back and hang him up, and Voila! You have a Sorcerer Mickey Pinata! it may take some work, but trust me, it will be all worth it in the end. Any questions don't be afraid to ask. I'll post more Ideas later, my mom wants to get online at the moment . Please tell how the party turns out and if you can, please post some pictures! Have a GREAT time and tell your Son Happy Birthday from Yensid!

I have other ideas: Buy clear or light colored balloons and fill them up with stars and Mickey shape head confetti…If you can’t find confetti cut out shapes from construction paper, instead. It looks very good. You can also serve punch from a caldron with dry ice in it to make it look like the wicked witches caldron.

I don’t know if you sent out invitations, but I have an idea. Why not make the invitations in a shape of a wand or mickey head. All you need are drinking straws, star cutouts from a cardboard (decorate the star anyway you like) or a mickey shape head cutout. Glue the cardboard cutout to the straw and you have your wand. Have ribbons hang down the straw to make it look whimsical. Write the invitation info on the back and tell the kids to bring the wand for the party that way the kids feel like sorcerer mickey. (I remember making these wands in elementry school)

I really like the firework idea...I'm sure that the hall will have its air conditioning vents on and they are in the ceiling so I'm hoping to try this one. I think it'll look really really cool!

I am making invites, or should I say printing them out, with Sorcerer Mickey holding a magic ball with a picture of the Cinderella's Castle (remember when it was decorated as the pink cake for the 25th anniversary?) inside. Below it, I put "I see A Party in your Future." On the inside, I wrote Sorcerer Mickey invites you to join in the celebration of Nick's 6th birthday. It's going to be FANTASMIC." and then the info for party.

I'm going to try doing the pinata within the next couple of weeks. Hopefully it will work out well...thanks for the directions though...I haven't made one in a while so if I goof up, I'll know why!

I found a site with Disneyclip art on it so I'm printing and laminating pictures of characters that you see throughout Fantasmic and will either place them with take on the floor (like a cake walk) or on back of chairs for musical chairs. That was a GREAT idea!!!! Thanks for that one too!

I'm having WAY TOO MUCH FUN getting ready for this party. If you have any other ideas, please don't hesitate to write. My 5 year old is on CLOUD 9. :D

 Bye and Thanks again!!

Make socerer hats for everyone! Even if you're not adept at sewing, I bet you could whip something up with some blue felt or even some painted newspaper, folded into the cone shape. Sounds like you're going to have a good time either way.
