Hi everyone! So...I made a post a month ago about my father breaking his hip. He did not have to have surgery and he has been approved by his MD to still visit WDW in 2 weeks. A few questions.....

1. Do all parking lots provide assistance to help transport people across the parking lots? ( such as those opens carts)

2. Anyone have any reccommendations for renting a motorized cart? I know you can rent inside of the park, but worried about them all being rented for the day and price seems expensive to me. Btw, We are not staying on site.

Are you driving your own car to WDW or will you reliant on Disney transportation?
First thing, I would do is see if you can get a temp handicapped parking tag. They have closer parking for those that need. I would rent offsite, has to be cheaper.

1. All of the parks have trams so if for some reason you can't get a handicapped tag as suggested above, you can still catch a tram. If you mean assistance from the tram to the parking spot, that I'm not sure.
2. I've seen a ton of outside vendors' ECVs at the parks before but for the life of me can't remember the name of any of the companies. I am sure a Google search for something like "ECV Rentals Lake Buena Vista" would yield a ton of result though!

I thought about the temp parking tag, but not sure we will have proper time to complete paper work. I thought that I had seen those open carts in the parking lots before, to transport people to the front of the park. ( if so, that would be just fine and very helpful). I have a few calls into some outside companies. Thanks for all of the help ;)

Yes, I thought I had seen the little open carts to transport people to the front of park. But, I would be wrong about that. I just googled the search and found a few Disney approved companies. Maybe I will find a cheaper route ;). Thanks for all of the help.

Apple scooters is a disney approves scooter rental. Prices are great! The scooter folds up and fits in your trunk. They will deliver it to where you are staying and pick it up free.

About a week before we went to WDW last year, I dislocated my hip. I did half days just fine at a place like HS, taking frequent breaks to sit. What killed me was Magic Kingdom, by the end of the day I was using the cane that my parents brought along "just in case" much to my dislike, had they not brought that I probably would have had to been carried out of the park haha
It really will probably depend on the amount of time you're spending in each park whether or not he needs the scooter. (keep in mind i'm 18 though, I probably recovered 80x faster than someone who's old enough to be your father) Renting a scooter would be highly recommended. Even if he says he won't need it, throw it in the trunk because I know I said I won't use the cane, I won't need it
and I definitely needed it!

Wow, bless your heart! He has agreed to rent an electric scooter. Found a great company with free delivery, great customer service and reasonable prices. He has a hard time on his crutches day to day, much less at WDW. Thanks for all of your help!

All the Disney park lots have trams, but first thing in the morning, you may be close enough to walk (or scooter) instead. Mi wish you all tons of luck and hope he has some fun and little pain!!
