I know all of the in and outs of WDW... but not a whole lot about Universal. Since WDW has gotten a bit stale for us... we are trying something different this year. Will give Universal a shot.... my question is if I am staying on site and get the universal express pass(or whatever they call it), I am assuming 1 day at each park will be more than enough, correct? I will have the park to park option so I think I will be alright... but wanted to ask those with more UO experience. I am not expecting WDW...but thankfully something different.

Do they have a nighttime show? Oh and whats the new Despicable Me attraction I just heard about? Restaurant recommendations anybody?

Thanks for any info.

Yes, One day at each park should be enough. ( I would also give CityWalk a hour or two. )

Yes they do have a nightshow, But Despicable Me does not open until the summer. As for dining, I would suggest Mythos, Very good view, food, Atmosphere.

P.S When are you going?

We usually head down the third week of August, but this year it will be sometime either in July or the first 2 weeks in Aug.

Another question...do I need to make ADR for restaurants? Am I too late at this point or is it not like WDW in that aspect? Also after reading some comments about the new mini golf...I am wondering about the Atmosphere of Citywalk. Is it like DTD or are there a bunch of people walking around bar hopping? Hinestly... I don't know.

Thanks again

All four of Universal's in park sit down restaurants are available to make reservations through Opentable.com.

IoA: Mythos, Confiscos
USF: Finnegans, Lombards

We started out doing the same thing, trying Uni for two days, now we go for five. We consider it our warm up to Disney. You could probably do both parks in a day if you wanted to run through them, but a day for each park is a nice way to do it. It helps if you are staying in one of their resorts, because their express pass really allows you to basically do whatever you want (except for FJ and RRR, of coarse), whenever you want.

As for dining, we love Mythos Grill for lunch, Lombards is pretty good too. As for Dinner, try Citywalk after the park closes. We like Margaritaville (we consider this a must go), the Latin Quarter, and some of the upper level resort restaurants. We feel Emeril's Tchoup Shop in the Royal Pacifffic resort is the best restaurant in the entire area (including Disney) and is not overly priced.

Good Luck and enjoy!!!!

Are you staying on site? We're trying out Royal Pacific for the first time this weekend. We're hanging out at the pool all day though and doing a CityWalk Bar Crawl that evening.

btw, parking at Uni is ridiculous. $15/day in the parking garage, hotel guests have to pay $17/day...which makes no sense to me. I get that off-sight hotels like to grab money wherever they can...but I would have thought they would take a lesson from Disney on this one with On-Site hotels. I guess it's because they're managed by Loews and not Universal.

We do a whole week at Uni now, stay at the Hard Rock. We like doing half park days and hanging out at the pool which is incredible. City Walk has great nightlife. All aroung Uni does a better job of keeping it fresh. But thats just my opinio.
