Help planning with a 5 day park ticket

Hi,

I would like some advice on my schedule for my upcoming visit. It will be my son (16) and myself. We are first timers.

25 oct: arrive early evening : Disney Springs
26 oct : MK (be our guest for breakfast and Cali for diner)
27 oct : Epcot (Le cellier for diner)
28 oct : HS (mama melrose fantasmic package for lunch)
29 oct : ??? + MNSSHP
30 oct : no park day
31 oct: AK (tiffins ROL for lunch)
1 nov : shopping with my teenage son (that should be expensive) (The Boathouse for diner)
2 nov : back home

I have a 5 day park ticket and so far I have 4 park days planned. I was thinking of getting in a half day 29 oct before MNSSHP but which park? We already have a full day and MNSSHP at MK so that leaves AK/Epcot or HS.

Also any comment/suggestions on my schedule and restaurants are welcome.

Thanks

MK is the only true 2 day park. Unless you're binge drinking and sitting around eating all day, the other 3 parks are easy 1 day visits.

Do you have park hoppers? If not, entering MK for MNSSHP will cost you one of the 5 days.

I agree with MK being the only real 2 day park, unless you want to meet princesses but it sounds like your son is too old for that. If that were the case, Epcot is easier in two days as well.

MNSSHP will not cost you one of your five single day tickets. But you cannot make fast passes on the party tickets and you cannot enter until like... 3 or 4 pm.

Well I won’t be binge drinking with a 16 year old;)

I didn’t think entering MNSSHP would cost me 1 of my days as I had to buy a separate ticket for the event ?

also when we went last year, I had two in my party that had 6 day tickets and one MNSSHP ticket. The system allowed me to book fastpasses on my MNSSHP day that we were able to take advantage of before the party started because they let you in a bit early, but I had to sacrifice making fastpasses for one of our Epcot days. So if you want to keep that last ticket fluid and not make fastpasses for it until the morning you go to a park, you can use that fastpass allotment for your MNSSHP day. Just keep in mind that fastpasses aren't available after the party starts, so you'd have to stack them neatly for the couple "bonus" hours before the event

Personally, I wouldn't waste a ticket for another park on the MNSSHP day. Take advantage of entering several hours before the party. Do some of your non-park activities in the morning.

You could do the same on October 30. Do your non-park activities in the morning, and visit a park in the evening.

With the early entry and lower crowds, you may get a lot done on your MNSSHP day. This depends on whether you prioritize attractions or Halloween party specific offerings of course. If you plan to do a lot of attractions that evening, I would consider not doing MK on Oct 26. You could do AK that day instead, and then leave Oct 31 free to visit whichever park you feel you need an additional day at.

We’ve done the Halloween party 3 times now (maybe four..I forget) but I highly suggest taking it easy the day of the party if you plan on staying for the whole thing. Last year we took a day trip to the Kennedy space station and it was easily the worst decision. We were so tired come party time. Previous years we hung around the resort, did laundry if needed, pool time, etc. Those were better parties for us. Just a suggestion :)

Thank you all for your replies. I think I will probably only do MNSSHP on the 29.th and then keep the 5th day ticket for the 30th. maybe late afternoon. That way we won't be too tired for MNSSHP. We'll probably then decide last minute which park to visit on 30th. : HS/AK or Epcot. Only downside is that I won't be able to make reservations dor Fastpass.

You should still make your best guess as to what park you'll visit on the 30th and book Fastpasses. You can change them at any time to a different park.

My recommendation would be for Epcot. AK and HS are one-day parks, you'll have already had two days in the MK.

Epcot uses Fastpass tiers, so if you book Test Track (for example) on your first day, you won't be able to book a Fastpass for Frozen that same day. That's one reason to do a second Epcot day.

As far as not making dining reservations, it's a great excuse to focus on the food & wine festival at Epcot. With a second day, you can leisurely sample foods and browse World Showcase shops, without feeling the pressure to get everything done in a single day.
