We have paid in everything in full including Premium economy flights, a 4 night Disney cruise, 12 nights at BVW (DVC) and 3 nights at the Portofino bay at Universal with tickets to Blue man Group and a character breakfast with photo connect! We leave the UK in 54 days, we have all our ADR's including BOG, except California Grill. Deluxe Dining Plan, MNSSHP, Photopass+.

DH has put in his notice with the Royal Air Force and is paid until end of Nov, so the plan was have the holiday and then he would start looking for work, well he got invited to and assessment day and long story short he starts training 9 Sep til 5 Nov (a dream job) so the holiday is off. He did say that me and DS8 should go without him but it wouldn't be the same. So we are delaying the trip till hopefully next Oct!!!!!!!!!!
As a sweetener I am taking DS for his 9th birthday to Disneyland Paris, it won't be as good as WDW but hey its better than nothing.
We will be staying at the New York Hotel, Empire Club room so anyone who has stayed there please tell me what it is like as I am a little bit down.

Not sure if it would have covered you in this instance but look into travel insurance. With such a high dollar investment it is a worthwhile way to ensure a great time.

What a shame - but for the best of reasons. The employment situation being what it is, your husband has done very well, and just think, in November your trip would be all done but you'll still have it all to look forward to. I can well understand your disappointment but at least it isn't lost for ever.

I have stayed at the New York, it is really nice and while DLP isn't WDW it is a nice break and will give you a taster of what you have to look forward to in 2014.

Chin up, and try to look on the bright side :)

I'ts sad to hear about such a wonderfully planned trip being forced into the future. It must have been a lot of work on your part to put it all in place and difficult to make those cancellations. Have fun with the Paris trip, ( I dont imagine I will ever get there) at least you will get some Disney enjoyment with your son and WDW will be there in October 2014. My best wishes goes out to your DH in his training and the dream job...it will brighten your future.

I always have travel insurance and lucky for us, as we were both military it covers us for cancelling due to work and duty. I am still going through the list of things we have paid for and what we can get back. The biggy is the flights and stuff they will only refunded 50%. Even if we lose a lot on this we couldn't have turn down the job!

I am looking on the bright side, Snow White train should be finished, The craziness with BOG will have slowed down, and Downtown should be finished. We will hopefully be back next Oct DS 10th Birthday.
