My girlfriend and I have been together a long time and I want to propose to her. Her family just invited me to go with them to WDW in December. The only wish for her proposal she's ever mentioned was at WDW. I have a few ideas but I just can't decide. I've literally read every post on proposals on each of the 22 pages of threads and I'm not any closer to making a decision. All I know is I want to do it in the Magic Kingdom because that's her favorite park.
These are the locations that I really like:
1. Caricature Proposal
2. In Rose Garden
3. Wishing Well
She is not a very flashy or outgoing person, but I also thinks she expects me to put on somewhat of a show because that is more my style. Does anyone have any experience with any of these locations, have any thoughts about them or could tell me the pros and cons of each? I just want it to be as perfect as she deserves. I have also contacted the people at Gifts of a Lifetime and am waiting to hear back from them. I am open to other ideas (although adding another option may only hurt this process).
The pros and cons for each of these spots are as follows:
The caricature idea seems kinda cheesy and sometimes big crowds gather. Plus I'd like to be able to say more than just "Will you marry me?" so a little more privacy would be nice. I do love that you have an instant keepsake and it just seems so darn cute and sweet.
The last two are about even in my mind. I just don't like the fact that you never know how crowded it will be. Also, these spots are much more romantic after dark, but I don't know if I can keep it together for that long. Is it un-romantic first thing in the morning?
Also, does anyone have any idea how I could keep a ring on my person (not in a bag) without her noticing? I want it to be in some sort of a box or something to present to her.
I know that's a lot but I just want it to be perfect. Thanks for your help!

OMG how romantic. Maybe you can do it in the Rose Garden while watching Wishes, or u can do a scavenger hunt and include all 3 places. Make it fun. When in december are you going?

I have talked to some of her family and they really love the caricature idea. I have the ring now so at least a portion of my nerves have been calmed. She is really a very shy person. Do you think the caricature will draw too big of a crowd? Thanks for all the well wishes and your input.

I love the caricature idea also. I dont think that it will draw to much of a crowd. I think she will be ok. If u choose do it in front of the castle she may have problem with everyone stopping and walking by. I am sure whatever you do she will be fine because she will be caught in the moment and wont even realize all the other people. Best of Luck. I will be there in december for my wedding.

I plan on asking in the Rose Garden in December. I want to do it in the early evening so we can get some pictures of it and have them come out decently. Depending on the time, I might do it during the lighting of the castle, not sure yet.

I see the wishing well is leading in the votes. Any good ideas how I can get a Photopass photographer over there or does anyone know where the closest one would be?

If you ask a Photo person, I am sure they can tell you the nearest one to the spot you end up choosing. I'm sure the person would be glad to help out. That's a great idea. Also, have someone video it on your phone or a video camera, too.

I like the caricature idea due to the keepsake. I also think the wishing well is a cute idea but I have heard about so many proposals there. Not to say it isn't romantic and cute...but I actually chose the rose garden (the only one) because I was thinking you could ask during Wishes or Celebrate the Magic. Those two are my favorites and are beautifully done. If it is during the day maybe you can get some of the princes to come over and make it even more special.

As for the ring...where are you staying? You could always make a quick run back to the resort if you don't want to hold it all day. If you carry a backpack you could always hide it in one of the compartments.

Whatever you choose, good luck and congrats!!! Keep us posted!!:)

I missed this part earlier. Neither my husband nor I liked the whole "present the box, then open the box and present the ring" thing. The theatrics of it all were just a little too much for us. I think the most discreet thing to do is just have the ring itself in your wallet or something, and surreptitiously pull that out when it's time to offer it to her. It's going to go on her finger immediately anyway, and you won't be stuck carrying around an empty box after that.

For my ring, my husband said he had a present for me. It was a cute porcelain Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin box. He fit in the inside of a ring box holder perfectly in it and there was the ring. I was surprised because I thought it was a cute mini holder of some sort.
