HELP! last minute prices

hey folks, does anyone know of any place where i can find my parents better prices than the rack rates BEFORE the august 25 deadline that the really good rates are activated? i've looked everywhere, they want to stay on the property and not spend an arm and a leg to do it. they have disney passes from their last trip so they don't need a package just the hotel. any suggestions?

when did you get that rate for july because thats when they were planning to go. they did have a reservation at the contemporary for $148 a night but had to cancel it due to myself and my brothers college travel plans. so its my fault that theyre in this predicament now to some extent

:) HI! I don't know if I can help with this one or not but it might so I might as well say it. Last year my inlaws were supposed to go down to the Very Merry Christmas festivities with us and stay at the AK Lodge in a separate hotel room. Well, when they booked their deluxe savannah room, they got a cheaper rate than we did...like $70 or $80 cheaper so I called the Disney number and said that they had gotten a cheaper rate for the same room that we had reserved and why was that. Without more a comment of what their rate was, the CM searched for our reservation and changed the price without even saything anything further! Aren't the Disney CMs great? We had some extra spending $$$ then but it was great that they would do that

Do you know a good travel agent? Often times they have deals that are not available to the average person. We always book through our close friend who gets us awesome rates. We try and get comparable rates through Disney travel and they never come close. In fact, we tried once about 5-6 years ago to book vacation through Disney travel at the "old" Disney store in Woodfield Mall in Illinois and they said that the resort we wanted was full up and that we couldn't get a room for the time we wanted to travel. We thanked them and left. Then we called Marlene and voila, we had the resort we wanted for the days we wanted at a better rate than what Disney was quoting. I wouldn't book with anyone else. She's the greatest.

Fellow Chicagoian here as well.
I too tried to book thru Woodfield Mall a while ago and they told me that I would need to choose a different week to go down. It was very odd...turned out they were trying to get me to go during the "peak" season instead of the off-peak season so it would cost more. But I did confirm with a CM (again this was quite a while ago) that travel agents have only a certain number of rooms that they can book so that Disney can take reservations online or over the phone themselves. It was kinda interesting so I thought I'd share. But I will NEVER go back to the Woodfield Disney Store to make travel arrangements. You definitely have a good deal with having a friend as your travel agent! :sohappy:

They took the travel stuff out of the Disney store a year or 2 ago and now have converted the store into one of those ridiculous "Disney Play" stores. Nothing for adults just toys etc. Yech.

Well, that tells you how long ago I've been there last! Actually we were there a few months ago and I didn't even notice that they were there anymore...I did notice all the toys though. They had a BIG sale on Buzz stuff....probably why I didn't notice! I was gathering deals for my son's 4th birthday party! LOL Thanks for the info! It's probably better that they're not there anymore anyway! =)
