Help! I'm driving myself crazy over toy story.

I'm trying to put together a schedule for our trip next week. I thought I had everything finalized I just had to write it all down, now 7 days away I find myself trying to change everything. And its all because I want to ride Toy Story.

We got chosen to do the fast pass+ which I thought was great, I made the plans for it that best fit our schedule but that meant we'd miss morning EMH at DHS. I thought I'd be fine with that since we'd be doing EMH at DHS two nights later. My concern is that all the fast passes for Toy Story will be gone by the time we get there in the afternoon the first day or during the night EMH the fast pass will be gone or the line will be so long we won't have time to do anything else. Or we'd be too tired to do night EMH at DHS as we'd be getting up very early to do morning EMH at AK.

I keep thinking we have 4 full days in the parks which should leave us with one day per park, so how come it isn't working out that way? Then I try to move things around, redo ADR's, cancel going to DTD, redo the fast passes for a different day. But nothing seems to work out, so I'm throwing my hands up. I give up! I'm just gonna write down what I have already planned and pray it all works out.

But just to ease my mind, please tell I'll still have a chance to ride Toy Story at some point. How bad are the lines mid-afternoon/evening and during night EMH? Will we still be able to get fast passes during night EMH?

One last question in case I try to reschedule things one last time... At what time do the buses start running back to the resorts or other parks?

For instance if I went to DHS for morning EMH, would I be able to catch a bus to MK at about 9:30 that morning?

The parks are not that busy at this time of year so you will have good chance that if you do not get fast passes you will not be standing around for hours. The buses start running at 7 am for early breakfast and EMH.

May I please add a word of unsolicited advice?
Go, have fun, enjoy everything that the park offers, and make your best attempt to get on Toy Story Midway Mania. If you make it in, great; if you don't, go home with wonderful memories of a fun trip. To be honest, if you try to arrange everything around this attraction, you are going to have that "well, it was nice, but not worth the effort" feeling. I have ridden this attraction many times, and I believe that I am correct on this.

Thanks. I know you're right. I know lots of people feel like Toy Story is overrated. It just feels like even at Disney World there is never enough hours in the day.

It's not that busy now. The regular line will probably be under an hour and there are a lot of fun things to look at so it seems like less. I wouldn't stress about having to have fastpasses!

We love, love, love Toy Story Mania. Unless there is a small crowd, there will not be any fastpasses left after early afternoon. They were gone before lunch the days we went in June. We got them a little later than that in May. If you did the early hours next Saturday, and got there as soon as they open, you would be able to grab a fastpass, get in the stand by line and within an hour ride again with your fastpass.
We'll be there for early hours on Saturday also. Maybe we'll see you there.

I was just there earlier this week and rode 3 times in one day! Only once with a fastpass. Two of those rides were in the morning but the crowds were so light, the lines really weren't too long if that gives you any hope. Give it your best shot but if you don't make it, there's always next time ;)

You might want to try to go right before the park closes, that in the past has been shorter wait than during the evening and days, on most of the days when we have been.

Yeah, this. TSMM is a blast but it is just one part of the Disney experience. It is almost impossible to do everyting at Disney so make memories and enjoy the trip.

We actually rode it yesterday without fast passes at 4:15 and only waited 35 minutes in line. Don't stress too much with over planning! It can all change with a broken ride or bad weather!

Toy Story is also one of those lines that they ALWAYS overestimate the wait time. Seriously.

The first time we ever rode it, we slept in that morning, missed morning EMH at DHS and didn't make it to DHS until around 10:30am- I think the park crowds were rated around 7.5 that day- so not exactly a light day either. It was after 11 by the time we made it over to TSMM ... the fastpasses were long gone and the posted wait time was 80 min. And we decided to wait anyway- and the actual wait time was ONLY....-----> 45 min! :) Far cry from the posted 80 min.:p

On top of this, if you ride standby you get to see all of the queue details. Sure, it's not interactive but it's kind of neat.

All in all- it's not worth stressing and worrying. The ride is fun, but it's also not going to ruin your trip if you can't work it in to ride it. And... If you want to ride it and have time- don't be scared off by overinflated stand by times. :D
