Hi I just booked a trip today for March 28-April 4 and I had a few questions. I was looking at the rehabs and they said that Tom Sawyer Island, Fantasmic, and Splash Mountain were going to be closed. Is there any chance that could be open (specifically splash) seeing as it is spring break time and they might need another big ride open. Also I heard that nemo's undersea adventure open on June 11th, any chance that might have a preview for spring breakers? What are some good restaurants, the one I really want to eat at is the blue bayou, what would be some others. Finally, I love tomorrowland at MK, it is my favorite land, and how does the Disneyland counterpart compare with it, does it have that neon blue theme? Thanks for your help, and wish me a good time.

Hi! You're going to have a great time! You're going to miss spring break by a couple of days, so that's good. The crowds should be rather light, but might pick up towards the end of your stay.

Splash, Tom Sawyer Island, and Fantasmic will remain closed, even throughout spring break, I'm sorry. You're going 2 months before Nemo opens, so I highly doubt that it'll be open for previews then. I'm thinking and hoping they'll start soft openings in late May.

The best restaurant on property, and probably the best that Disney has created is Napa Rose in the Grand Californian Hotel. I went for my 16th birthday and it was amazing! My parents went there last night and had nothing but good things to say about it. They had the same waiter I did. His name is Poe and he's the greatest! He's so helpful and nice. He actually remembered me from last year! I highly suggest this restaurant, but it is a bit pricey.

DL's Tomorrowland is smaller, just like the rest of the park in comparison to WDW. Many people think it is the worst land in the park because of themeing. I still enjoy it. Our Tomorrowland consists of Buzz Astro Blasters, Space Mountain, Star Tours, the spinning rockets (like Dumbo), Innoventions, Pizza Port, and the Tomorrowland Terrece. Don't miss Space Mountain!! It is a lot better than the one in MK! You will not be disappointed!

Remember...Dreams Come True and the Parade of Dreams are both amazing! I highly suggest both!

I'm just wondering, and don't want to start some more conflict like in the other thread but...are you planning on visiting DCA? Sure it isn't up to par with DL or WDW parks (excluding MGM), but it is possible to have fun there!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! You are going to have a great time!!!

The Blue Bayou is certainly a must see. I would also heartily recommend the Carnation Cafe on Main St. It's a good choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner. If you go, be sure to say hello to Oscar the chef. He has been there for an incredible 50 years.

I know that you will have a great time.

Even though it's spring break those attractions will remain closed. Carnation cafe is good but also visit Napa Rose and Goofy's Kitchen.

Wow thanks for your help everyone. Yes I do plan on going to DCA for 3 days. The Plan was to go to DLR and DCA 3 times each on alternating days. I figure with rockin' space moutain and california screamin', it would make up for the lose of splash. One last thing, I know WDW has that create a light saber in downtown disney, any idea if it's at DLR too? Thanks for your help.

Last I heard create a light saber is only at WDW.

The amount of time you'll be there is more than enough time to fully experience everything. That's great that you'll have so much time! I think you'll find that 3 days is way more than enough time to see all of DCA. If you've been to WDW a number of times, then not much at DCA will be new to you. If you like roller coasters, though, California Screamin' is a pretty decent one. I would actually recommend adding a visit to Knott's Berry Farm. They have some outstanding roller coasters, especially Ghost Rider! Best wooden roller coaster I've ever ridden!

As far as Tomorrowland is concerned, I would say it's on a par with the one at MK. One thing that you might find a little strange about it is that the Astro Orbiter is at the entrance to Tomorrowland and it is not elevated like the one at MK. As was said before, Space Mountain is vastly superior to the one at MK. In my opinion, it's the best attraction at Disneyland. The music enhances the ride tremendously. Also the effects and ride itself are much better. Star Tours is here, as well as Honey I Shrunk the Audience and Buzz Lightyear. This Tomorrowland also has Innoventions, but it's really lame here. You'll also notice the track overhead for the old PeopleMover (TTA) which became the short-lived Rocket Rods and was then closed. The Autopia here is pretty cute. The cars are cooler and there is more interesting scenery.

Personally, I think the best land at Disneyland, far and away, is New Orleans Square. It is very well themed. I'm not really a big fan of Blue Bayou. The ambience is cool, but the food itself really leaves a lot to be desired.

Of course, don't miss the Matterhorn! The ride is very similar to MK's Space Mountain, but I think that type of ride works better in this setting.

Big Thunder is a mirror image of the one at MK. The queue for this one is much better than the one at MK.

If Splash Mountain is closed, don't be too disappointed. It is not as good as the one at MK. This one doesn't do as good a job disguising the fact that you're inside a show building. If you look up during the ride, you can see the ceiling and all the spotlights clear as day. It also is lacking some of the scenes that the MK version has.

Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion are both considerably better here than at MK. The queue for Pirates is pretty much nonexistant, but the ride itself more than makes up for what the queue lacks.

Definitely check out the Disney Gallery. That is above Pirates, and if you are into Disney history, you'll love it. There's lots of Imagineering artwork here.

Of course, DL has the Indiana Jones Adventure, which is incredible.

Fantasyland is worth seeing, too, since it has some attractions MK doesn't have, and it's better themed than the one at MK.

Have a great time!!
