I am doing a nice and long report on Walt Disney and I need some help finding sources. I need to have about 17 possible sources. If you know of any books or web sites with some good information I would really appreciate it. My report is focused on who he was as a person and not so much as what he did with his company. I have two of my sources "Walt Disney an American Original" and "How to Be Like Walt". Thank you so much for any help you can give me.

I have a book called "The Magic Kingdom: Walt Disney and the American Way of Life" by Steven Watts. It's all about Walt's public and private life. I know i read it a long time ago, but I honestly don't remember if it was good or not.

I also have "Walt Disney's Railroad Story" by Michael Broggie. It's pretty much about Walt's fascination with trains and how that influenced Disneyland. There are some sidebars and background info that you may be able to pull from.

Hope this helps.
Mike

So you are looking for stuff he did before he developed his mickey mouse cartoons, or before the creation of the park??

I'm looking for stuff on his life. The focus of my report is on who he was as a person, his personality, and at the risk of sounding corny, what made him tick.

Building a Company : Roy O. Disney and the Creation of an Entertainment Empire
by Bob Thomas is an excellent book. Although it's not specifically about Walt, it does tell the story of Walt and Roy's relationship growing up. It's a slightly different perspective on Walt. I highly recommend it.

I double recommend the above book.

I have a DVD that concentrates a lot on the man himself - Walt The Man Behind The Myth. I bought it at the Disneyworld, but it is available on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001AVZWG/qid%3D1097692299/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/104-1155155-1565505

Online try The Walt Disney Family Museum:

All my other books concentrate on the parks or the films.

Walt Disney, The Man Behind The Magic. An excellent book, especially on his early childhood.

I second Walt Disney's Railroad Story, it has a lot of wonderful insite into Walt's personallity and thought processes by someone who was rather close to him.

This is for my Sr. Thesis class. I have to write 25 pages and Walt Disney seemed like the best idea.

Post it??

Hey, after you get the paper done, is there a way you can upload it to a website for viewing? Would love to read it! I also have read a book full of quotes on worker's perspectives on Walt and quotes from Walt - I'll look up the title at the library and post it. The book is truly amazing, as it tells his whole life story through quotes!
