Hello - Animal Kingdom Lodge, has anyone got anything good to say?

I am new to this site and am looking for your thoughts and reviews on the Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort, I have booked to stay here in Sept and looking at Trip Advisor can see so many bad reviews it is putting me off staying there.

Bad reviews at Animal Kingdom Lodge? I've only got one "bad" thing to say-when I stay there, I find that I don't enjoy the parks as much. I'm too anxious to get back and sit on my balcony to see the animals. That is, when I'm not down at Mara having butternut squash soup and zebra domes. Or if I'm full of zebra domes, I'll take a vanilla cupcake. Why is it that the plain vanilla cupcakes taste so good there?

Best resort on property and the cheapest of the Deluxe resorts. Not sure what there is to dislike.

AKL is our resort of choice at WDW. Won't stay anywhere else. Reviews you read must have been from competitors jealous of AKL's success.

I feel the same way. Of the Disney resorts I've stayed at, it's the one where (a) we spent the most time, and (b) we wished we could have spent more time!

OP - what was the nature of the complaints?

Now, I did know someone who was disappointed at AKL because they didn't know to make advance dining reservations, and the restaurants were booked solid.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is a gorgeous resort with lots of activities and amenities to go with the high price.

You will also find a lot of dining options in every category from snacks, buffet, to signature. I am certain you will be happy with picking this resort for your vacation.

I can't imagine what bad reviews might say... I have not stayed here yet but based on my experience touring and eating there, it might just be my favorite resort! The theming is exquisite, the restaurants are arguably the best on property, and there's so much to do at the resort itself. Rest assured, you'll have an amazing time there!

Those people are crazy. The AKL is amazing and our home resort. Since we started staying there 5 years ago I don't want to stay anywhere else on property and when I'm not in WDW I long to be at the AKL the most. It's gorgeous and unique, the animals are awesome and everything about it is just comforting. You should try it OP, you won't regret it.

On Trip Advisor there are lots of people saying that the Housekeeping is poor and sometimes non existent and that the buses that take you off site arrive full or are sparse? I have heard that the rooms are small. We are going to be reliant on the buses as we haven't hired a car.
