I stumbled upon this site while planning a Disney trip and despite numerous trips to Orlando over the years I've still learned so much from reading the posts here.... so thank you to all of you for sharing your experiences and your knowledge of the parks, restaurants, and resort hotels. I just joined the site today and I'm looking forward to adding my own experiences to the mix. I generally take two, week long trips to Disney each year. One with my husband and our two girls. The other as an adult only trip. There is so much to enjoy at Disney both from a child's view and also from a grown-up perspective. For a long time we stayed exclusively at the resort hotels by the Magic Kingdom. We like them all for different reasons but I'm partial to the Grand Floridian especially the rooms in the main building. Wilderness Lodge is really special around the holidays and the Contemporary and the Polynesian each have their own charms. On our last trip we decided to try something new and we chose an Epcot resort. We stayed at Boardwalk and had a fantastic time. We did miss the proximity to Magic Kingdom and the monorail loop but it was totally made up for by having such a huge amount of things to do and see within walking distance. We loved the loop around the lake and walking to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The Boardwalk Inn itself was not our favorite hotel to stay in though so for our next trip we are trying Yacht Club. Our countdown is at 49 days. Super excited.

So anyway. HI. I'm Sabrina, Disney Fan, and I look forward to meeting you :)

Welcome! So is this next trip an adults only trip? :D
Yes! The December trip IS an adult only trip. It will be my husband and two other couples. One couple has never been to WDW so I'm really excited for them to experience it! I'm sure there can be some controversy about taking a trip without the children but my husband and I know that our girls are in safe hands and that they're going to be fully entertained and greatly loved while we're gone. We were in Disney just last month WITH the girls and that trip was 100% all about them, so.........now it's our turn. We'll be going the first week of December which will put us back home in plenty of time to dedicate ourselves to all of the traditional family, child-centered activities.

Don't feel one big guilty! Parents need kid-free time too. Have a blast!

Agreed. I really don't feel guilty about the time that we take for ourselves. My girls love spending time with their paternal grandparents who always have fun things planned. I really believe that taking time for ourselves, and as a couple, makes us better parents. If we weren't able to take the kids on frequent family vacations, or if going to Disney was a rare occurrence, then I probably would feel differently but that isn't the case. Also, the things my husband and I do on an adult vacation wouldn't interest a 3 and a 6 year old anyway.

I have three young kids myself so I know right where you are coming from.
