I grew up in Florida and was at Disney world for the opening and watched a swamp be turned into "Magic" and at the Epcot opening.I still have the hologram ticket from Epcot. And we have been at least 20 times. We have not been in 9 years,we moved. The bands are new to us and everything is abbreviations on this site. You guys have given me so much information..Could someone please post what the abbreviations mean. I have learned a few but it is hard and time consuming. Please be kind to the old ones and newbies. Thank you all for the information that has been given.

Hello Gitson Shiggles,Thank you for the link.Yes we are part of the history of Disney World.I remember how Walt Disney wanted everything to look good from a short level. And it was true,I laid on the ground and looked up in several locations..(I probably would be walked on today).I remember being their in Feb. of 1976 with our son and it began to rain right before the parade in the Magic Kingdom. No one was on Main Street. We actually were pulled into the parade and danced our way through the Magic Kingdom. There wasn't anyone watching but it was a wonderful, magical experience.I only had one thing on my bucket list and that was to stay in the Contemporary Resort. We will be doing that in October of 2018.I know the saying,"you can never go back" but I can put this wish to rest. Again Gitson, thank you.

I myself am tired of all the abbreviations, especially by newbies who are trying to impress and abbreviate everything. I've been a Disney Parks fan for decades, but I still can't always figure out what they mean, and the abbreviation guide doesn't list everything.
Thank you for letting me know I am not the only one.

Wow! another early bird, my first visit was in May of 1972 (just got out of the military) what a fantastic time to be in the Magic Kingdom, in 77 honeymooned at the Contemporary still have the original reservation $45 dollars a night, can't believe it, I'm afraid to check out what they charge now. Have a great time in October at the Contemporary

I don't think it is anybody (newbie or otherwise) trying to impress, but rather just something that happens naturally after typing "Seven Dwarves Mine Train" or "Villas at Wilderness Lodge" for the hundredth time.

Many industries and recreational groups develop abbreviations - it's just a natural progression. This is a very friendly board (for the most part) and if you ask what something means, nobody is going to jump down your throat.

The acronyms are difficult sometimes. Like PPO. Most would not know that PPO means prepark opening. That’s just an example I have seen a lot of lately. I think most self explanatory acronyms are fine but when someone takes the time to type out a 2 paragraph dissertation and fills it with hard to interpret acronyms it can be aggravating to read. It can come across as lazy after the OP (original poster) has taken all of that time to write said extremely long post.

Man, I've been on this site for over 15 years and I still have no idea what people are talking about when they go into acronyms. It drives me crazy.
