Heading to WDW December 16-22nd. What crowds should I expect?

We're planning to head down to the WDW parks in December probably the dates between December 16th and 22nd. What kind of crowds should we be expecting? Is it crowded that week, although it's right before people are off for Christmas break, or have the crowds already begun arriving?

Yes, it will be crowded, getting busier each day closer to Christmas. But with patience and planning, you will have a great time. Visiting during the holiday season is festive and fun!

I would imagine it won't be particularly busy until at least the 20th. It doesn't usually get busy until the weekend before Christmas as kids are still in school.

Not true. We have visited the last several years during this same week and while the parks are not jam-packed, they are definitely crowded.

We were there Dec. 17 - Dec 26. of 2011 and the crowds were a little heavier but manageable up until 12/24. Starting 12/25 it was insane! MK park closures the 25th and the 26th and the other parks were extremely crowded with people that could not get into MK.

We're trip buddies! I'll be there December 17-21. Have you looked at the crowd calendar at Easy WDW? It's pretty helpful.

The parks will be full but not as bad as they are on the actual holidays. It's a safe time to go still.
