I also have never been on a "Disney" hayride, but have been on hayrides in Colorado, and at a Dude Ranch in Tuscon, AZ...
Both were different experiences, but basically it was a slow and leisurely ride, with a stop (for hot chocolate, in Colorado, and for lunch, at the dude ranch)
Naturally, you should expect to be brushing hay off of your clothes, unless the hay is covered, before you sit on it..
But since I do't know what the cost of the Disney hayride is, I don't want to really compare that with my own experience...one was included in my overall vacation cost and the other hayride was an "extra", and was about $17.00.
The thing is, it was fun, and something different to do...
