Having a baby at WDW

Just curious, has anyone had or heard of someone having at baby at one of the parks? Not a resort but actually at the park? Just got off Small World..."Honey, I'm having the baby now!!"

Has anyone tried to plan to have a baby at the world?

Thinking it would be kind of special to be born at WDW :)

Honestly if anyone plans to have a baby in Disney World I think they should have never been allowed to breed in the first place. Having a baby come early and not expecting it is one thing but planning it...no matter how big of a Disney nut you are makes me think you are too stupid to raise children anyway.

...and that's just my opinion so please feel free to tell me what a horrible human being I am

Other than the obvious logistical nightmare of planning something that inherently unpredictable and extremely time consuming, it also sounds like something that would need to be done in secret. Disney personnel would quickly remove a woman who is in labor from any guest area; even if it's against her will. The only place where this could be even remotely possible might be in a companion bathroom.

...or maybe the castle suit, but your odds of winning the PowerBall 3 times in a row are probably better than that of lining up a birth with labor beginning and ending during a stay in the suit.

A bathroom just doesn't seem very comfortable (or sanitary, or safe), and anyone who would contemplate such a thing should be introduced to my friend Baker Act. I understand hardcore fans wanting to incorporate Disney with the significant moments in their lives (like proposing in front of the castle), but this has to be one of the worst ideas ever.

yes you are a horrible human being ... i am joking!!

I too would not think it would be wise to go to WDW when your are that close to birth but like I said, I am curious.....that are ALOT of hard core disney people on the site..

But it can happen... I read a story on this site where a woman went into labor at the hotel..mind you she was 6 weeks early..

Anyone born on Disney Property becomes the property of Disney. They will never be able to leave the property and only know life from the experiences of the Disney Parks. (Kind of like the Truman Show)

I realize it can happen and I'm not talking about people who had an unexpected labour on property because they would probably head to the nearest hospital - not wait it out hoping to have the baby in the park.

I think planning it is irresponsible. Anyone who would put the life of their unborn child in danger by planning a labour without medical assistance of any kind is a questionable parent in my opinion. BTW I do consider midwives as medical assistance and I also realize that in many places around the world women have babies without help of any kind but when you have options and you choose to have your baby in a theme park...frankly you need your bleeping head examined.

Is that why I usually notice 1 or 2 new dolls on IASW each time I visit?

Yes, until they grow up, then they are moved to rides like Pirates. Last stop is the Haunted Mansion. What a nightmare.

Maybe this thread should be moved to Disney Secrets.

There was a longstanding rumor that if your child was born in DL that they would receive a lifetime pass. I have never seen any conformation that this rumor true, in all likelihood it is false, but I have heard of a number of stories of women showing up do DL in labor because they heard of this rumor. Granted, these are all "My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw this happen" stories, but it would not surprise me in the least if it actually occurred.

Reminds me of the Great Stork Derby - in the 1920's in Toronto a man noted in his will that the woman who had the most babies in the 10 years after his death would receive an inheritance from his will.

It caused quite the scandal when women began fighting over who gets the money since one woman had several kids by several different men and others thought they should be born in wedlock. Another woman had 10 kids but 2 were stillborn which she said should count. In the end I think 5 or 6 families who had 9 kids each received about $125,000 per family (not bad for 1930's) and later the women who had stillborns and children by numerous men sued and got around $10,000 each.

Imagine all the families who ended up with 8 mouths to feed and no money coming to them! That's the price you pay for having babies for a chance at the lottery I guess

Yeah, I think I know that girl. My wife’s teacher in grade school taught this boy who had an uncle that knew a waitress at the HoJo’s there by Disneyland, she had a son that was dating this girl who said the same thing.

Yeh,heard this woman once at COP screaming it's coming,it's coming, just at the end of the show. When the lights came on,this very large woman who was definitely pregnant was lying on the floor and looked very like she was about to give birth but it was a false alarm. Why oh why would she want to be at WDW in that state is beyond me:shrug:

While we think of this as something of a curiosity, had Disney World been built as planned, it would have been a very real, and likely common, occurrence as it seems likely that EPCOT would have had its own hospital.
