HauntedPirate's Trip Report - 5/4 - 5/11, Part I

Background:
Our party of 12 stayed at Pop Century. 50's "C" building, lake view after they didn't honor our 70's request, and we needed 2 connecting rooms (2 wheelchair bound guests, one with medical needs).

Thoughts and commentary:

Pop Century was nice. Housekeeping in our building left much to be desired. Sheets changed once, floor vacuumed once. Absolutely no creativity - we left toys around, hoping to get something cool when we returned, only to find them on the pillow on one of the beds. Food court was nice, but small for a resort of it's size. Food choices aren't all that great - typical fast food fare, with few exciting choices. We didn't do the Mom's dinner specials, but they did look interesting. Classic Concoctions was only open two nights.

All the parks had good crowd levels, but we didn't encounter any significant wait times. Most of our FastPasses were good within an hour, and we didn't have to use our party's Handicapped Pass very often, simply because the waits were so short.

I didn't see much in the way of maintenance issues, but I did see the cracked steps leading upto the Main Street RR Station. One thing I did notice was lots of gum on the rides (Splash Mt. especially) and on the sidewalks. I came to the realization that the Cast Members simply can't keep up with the disrespect of thousands of people. I'm being quite general with the numbers, but you should get the meaning.

I ran across several CM's who went out of their way for our party. Rich (monorail Silver driver on Friday May 7, I believe) was delightful and happy to answer all my questions, as well as the questions of the two kids I was riding with (my 3-year old and a 7-year old in our party). John at Guest Services in MK gave us a Priority pass to any one ride, simply because our roomkey's didn't have our Ultimate Park Hopper on it when we went to MK on 5/6. I was completely surprised and just overwhelmed by this show of customer service. I spoke to a few CP participants, and one of them, at the Stroller Rental at Epcot, summed it up best. CP's are peons, get dumped on, but having Disney (or DisneyWorld) on your resume is gold, and it's a great experience.
