I was in MGM about a month ago. I just saw your "preview pics" on another part of the site.
The Haunted Mansion soundstage was fully operational when I was I there. It had a few props from the movie and set recreations.
Basically you stand in the soundstage and watch a "DVD like extra" making of the movie. It was really boring honestly. I expected some sort of effect at one of the props, since the script by the cast member hints at it, but nothing happens. 20 minutes I wasted could of tried winning the cruise again over at Millionaire.
