I've heard that the Nightmare Before Christmas redo of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion is comming the Walt Disney World's Haunted Mansion. Would you guys want this on the Haunted Mansion if you were there. I want to see what you guys think

The Haunted Mansion

Hey there! i would personally love to see the Holiday conversion show up at the Florida side of things, mainly because being located where I am, I'll most likely never have the chance to see the version in California. I don't like the idea of having the Mansion down for so long before and after, though...but I think it'd be worth at least one year of presentation.

I say leave it alone.

Everyone LOVES Florida's Haunted Mansion just the way it is.

Why shut it down for weeks..maybe months...for a change...and then shut it down again, just to put it back the way it was.

I say..if it aint broke..don't FIX it.:animwink:

For purely selfish reasons (my son would be completely freaked out by the NBC overlay), I would have to come out against it. I'm curious to catch it myself, but I'm not a big fan of the movie.

Another thing to remember is that WDW and DL draw completely different constituencies. WDW draws about 70%-80% non-local visitors. DL draws about 65%-70% local visitors.

This means that DL needs to make periodic changes to favorite attractions (Mansion, small world, etc.) to help increase repeat visits. WDW has the luxury of having such a high percentage of new visitors that there's no need to take attractions down for a few weeks before and after a temporary refit. They're much better off leaving everything up and running as much as possible.

You don't disgrace something as sacred as the Haunted Mansion with a temp show like that Disneyland thing! The fact that they do that out in Cali sickens me. Why can't they just leave stuff alone!!!!!!!!!!

I really would like to see it too. I've heard only good things from the people who rode it in California. I was hoping that they would do the NBC show this year.

I really wouldn't mind the changeover since it's only a couple months. I really love NBC, but even I would disagree with anything that permanently would change the Mansion.

I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for the NBC show next year.

as an avid fan of the mansion i have two standing grounds on this situation:

1- i want my mansion!!!!!!!!!!!
2- i'd love to see the NBC makeover.

so in fact, i wouldn't mind seeing it cause i know my mansion will always be there unless they mess it up with this new movie coming out in which case there will be a lot of angry HM fans to deal with...dare i say, more so than figment fans?

I'm going to have to go with the "leave the Mansion alone" folks on this one. I used to be fine with attractions being dressed up and then returned to they way they should be...and then the "wand" actually stayed over SE.

What if they change HM and don't put it back? :(

they'd never do that, because the only reason they change it is to celebrate the holidays. Why would they have a christmas/holloween attraction year round?

And it doesn't really matter if you didn't like the movie or not. This is not the movie, it is Haunted Mansion Holiday.

I am going to see DL's soon, and it looks awesome.
I love the idea of updating the classics with new things without getting rid of the original spirit of the attraction. I am personally for any updates of the classics. If ti became a yearly thing, it would be a problem for anyone visiting during its annual "down time". That doesn't mean they have to have it every year, they coudl go every other, mabey.

While I really do hear and understand what you're saying, I am not at all sure anymore that when Disney changes something they will change it back.

The wand hasn't gone away, apparently the hat isn't going anywhere...I'm just very afraid that if they make changes to the Mansion we'll have to live with those as well....:(

yeah, I guess sometimes Disney can't even predict what they'll do nowadays! One good omen to eas your mind, however, is that Disneyland has already successfully updated the show and turned it back to its original state after Christmas last year. Mabey after a while of changing the show back and forth each year, they will get used to it and be able to "decorate" the mansion more easily and quickly so there is less downtime for the ride.

Well, speaking as one of Master Gracey's most humbled ex-butlers...I say BRING IT ON.

If you haven't seen the NMBC update to the DL HM...it...is...amazing.

I was TOTALLY against it when I flew out to LA. I mean, how could they tamper with my good Masters Mansion. What would Madame Leota think...and poor Mrs. Emily...but after riding it I was in shock.

It was the greatest experience I have had at Disney in a long long while. The audio...the soundtrack...the scenes...the props. EVERYTHING was amazing. This was back when I hadn't even seen NMBC too.

So...in this butlers humble opinion...I'm up for letting Jack Skellington and his crew invade.

Welcome Jack...welcome.

Jordan

PS. Its not going to happen for a little bit...it DEFINATELY wasn't happening next year...but with this new head of Disney parks coming...one never knows.

The reviews of the DL mansion were amazing. I know tons of people who went and every single one loved it.

They also spent a ton of money fixing up systems within the mansion that hadn't worked in years. Original effects, audio, scrims, everything was rehabbed. New speakers in every car....the list goes on and on.

And then afterward, the mansion returns to normal, but enhanced in ways that wouldn't have been done for years.

There is NO downside to this. Hopefully WDW moves forward.
