It's well known that the stretching room is actually an elevator at Disneyland's Haunted Mansion. I read somewhere that the stretching room at WDW's Haunted Mansion is not. That it was included in the WDW version just because it's such a neat effect. That the ceiling actually rises at WDW since no elevator is involved. I can confirm this. I was at WDW back in May and of course rode HM several times. I made sure I was standing near the door as it was closing behind me in the stretching room. Instead of watching what was going on inside, I kept as eye on the changing pic/fireplace scene outside. With smaller crowds in May, the stretching room was never completely filled and it was quite easy to do. I kept an eye on the very last bit of view through the door and as it is almost completely closed, that split second, you can clearly see that the ceiling started to rise while you can still see the outside. There was no mistaking this. Anyone else seen this?
