Haunted Mansion Trashcans

I'm sure this has been mentioned on here before, they have generic green trashcans at the Haunted Mansion at WDW. Now we all know this doesn't make any sense with other trashcans being themed at the park. The thing that makes this extra ironic for me is a part of the new Treasures DVD, "Disneyland, Secrets, Stories and Magic" has John Lasseter talking about how Disney is special because of all the little details that they add to the parks, then they happen to show some shots of themed trashcans.....so here we are, they are bragging on details and themed trashcans, and one of the classic attractions at WDW has some generic green trashcans. It may be a small thing to complain about, but isn't that what details are..small things. Had to rant a little....

In the past, there have been instances where the trash cans are being repainted and re-themed, and they install generic ones in their place temporarily. I assume that's what happened. Cheer up, I bet they will be back shortly.

I guess anything is possible, but they have been there a long time....

I dont think all the Cans have to have its own theme, different color maybe but as long as it fits in with the area i dont mind.

I thought that these were new cans that they were testing. So maybe they are testing them against a lot of different conditions to see how they hold up at one of the most popular rides. Cosidering that we haven't seen other cans disappearing for the generic ones, I wouldn't worry.

It's possible they are out for re-theaming, however generic green fits with the theaming of HM. Walt Said that CM's would take care of the outside and the ghosts would take care of the inside, so therefor, CMs placed a general can outside the mansion that just matched color wise and wasn't an eyesore. However, inside the mansion we should have theamed cans.

On the topic of haunted mansion, did they replace the old turn styles with the open walk thru thingys or do they still have the crank you have walk thru?

maybe ghosts recycle? :P

I would love to see the generic trashcans say 'boo' when you throw trash out
or make an evil laugh or some kind of spooky random thing. May make people more into throwing out their trash.

Tower of Terror's trash cans used to have the Hollywood Tower Hotel logo on them... but they've been gone for a while and replaced with plain "rusty green" ones as well. They are semi-themed to look old, but there are no logos on them or anything.

Haunted Mansion has had plain green cans since at least 2000 if not earlier. I imagine at one point there might have been a more detailed design on the cans, but they have been this way for many years now.

Most of the cans in the MK went from detailed sticker designs on four sides to the metal plaques on two sides that we see today around 2000. Part of this was because they were putting out many more cans (one every 20 feet now), the other is that it allows the cans to be painted/touched up much easier (and therefore likely more often). I imagine it may have been around that time that the HM's cans went to the plain green we still see today. They aren't anything special, but they fit well into their environment.

Personally, just the plain green trash cans work fine for me. Putting the logo on them makes me think I'm at...WDW. Not having a logo makes me it more believable for me that I'm actually at a deserted, haunted mansion. I know that sounds strange, but...:lol:
