Haunted Mansion Ring

Hi Gang. I've been away for a while, and I wouldn't doubt that this question has come up a hundred times since the last time I was here, but here's my question anyway......

There is a "ring" embedded in concrete somewhere outside the HM. WHERE IS IT??? I looked for it the last time I was there, but no luck. Can someone give me an idea of where it is?

Thanks, in advance.

One of our members proposed to his lady love there (she said yes). I'll do a search & see if I can find the location. (I think I remember, but I want to be sure).

It's on the right-side, under the gates, as you exit. The gates I'm referring to are close to the carriage. I could find it in 2 seconds if I were there.

From a page with hints to a scavanger hunt...

"As you come out of the haunted mansion you will go past all the tombs, then you come to a gateway with a wide and a narrow passageway. The ring is in the ground about even with the gateway in the middle of the wide passageway. "

It suggests you ask a CM as they are used to pointing this out. I'll have to check for it when we go down in July.

i am most likely going to mk tomorrow and i have never seen this ring before. so is it a gold ring, or a impring in the ground???? i will look tomorrow for sure, and definately take a pic, if i find it.

Most indications are that this "ring" is actually the remains of where a post was in the ground.

When I saw it, that's exactly what I thought. Assuming I was looking at the right ring, it was way to big to be a jewelery type ring. Unless his lady love was...an execptionally large woman? :lookaroun

Perhaps is more romance than reality? :animwink:

I did the Keys to the Kingdom tour on 5/19 and we stopped at the HM. I asked our tour guide about the ring while we were in the stretching room and he just laughed and said he was going to go over it while we were exiting. He pointed out the ring and said that the imagineers had never envisioned the story of the ring while coming up with the story for the ride, but that very creative HM fans had made the story into a fun urban legend. Even though it isn't supposed to be a ring, I still like to think that it is, just for fun :)

i was at mk on saturday, and had to look at this. well i did and if you look right to the left of it there is another hole in the ground.
as well as covered up holes in the pillars to it's right and left. so basically orginally it was probably just some gates, which were removed. and the ring is just a place to lock the gates in place.

the "wedding ring" is actually the remains of a gate that used to block the exit of the attraction that forced you to exit through the smaller, door-like gate to it's immediate left.

some time ago Disney decided to free up the traffic through this potential bottleneck and it appears that somebody just sawed off the poles flush to the ground. you'll notice that one pole was removed and the hole filled in. but the other pole stuck...

they even appeared to try to work it out with a screwdriver. the tip broke off. and ta-da... instant "setting" for this "wedding ring".

so they just filled up the inside of the pole and thankfully enough this goofy wedding ring rumor begins to pop up because otherwise it's a pretty embarassing incident.

back in the late 90's some rather persistent Mansion fans, apparently feeling pretty dejected that this rumor was false, decided to start up ANOTHER rumor that a REAL wedding ring is "somewhere" on the Mansion property. it fell off a construction worker, evidentally.

don't believe everything you read... :D
