How well do you think the Haunted Mansion would do? I think that it will be a medium hit because they've shown alot of the neat stuff from it in the commercials and many people might be interested.

What do you think?:)

I have seen the previews, some of the costumes, 2 of the new "singing busts" and all kinds of art work and sketches for everything from the sets to the Zombies....
This film is gonna ROCK!
I cant wait to get the new HM book!

I'm not too excited about the movie. I think it will do all right, but not incredably at the box office. Maybe about as much as Santa Clasue 2 did last Christmas.

And, about the poll, didn't Holes do better at the box office than Lizzie McGuire? I thought it made something like $20,000,000 more than Lizzie.

There has been so much advertising for this movie, through tv ads, music, video games, posters, extremely large movie theater cardboard cut-out ads (I think some of you know what I'm talking about), and even in the parks they have the new Backstage Pass featuring the Haunted Mansion....then, of course, there is the ride, and the huge fan base behind it. I think all this advertising will probably bring in a lot of families. And, of course, you never know, it might just be a good movie!

Well, I think it's gonna be a pretty good movie. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Also, I am offended with a poll choice....I loved Treasure Planet...how dare you call it a flop!

I think Haunted Mansion will open really big, due to both good advertising including linking it as a film from "the studio that brought you Pirates of the Caribbean". The huge success of POTC will undoubtedly help HM in the beginning, expecially those who know that HM is another theme park ride turned movie. However, I expect it to drop off much faster than POTC, just because I don't think it will have as much of a cross-audience potential that POTC said. Thus, I think it will be a hit, somewhere in the range of $150 million.

I was thinking HM might have a hard time at the BO from The Cat in the Hat next weekend, but if the reviews tell anything, Cat in the Hat will open decent this weekend and will fade VERY fast, just from bad word of mouth I presume (from rottentomatoes.com: Right now only 12% of all reviews think it is even worth seeing, and even those don't think its spectacular.)

Yea, you're right ;) Just vote according to whether you think it will

Choice one: Flop (less than $50 million)
Choice two: Be a medium hit ($50-100 million)
Choice three: A somewhat big hit ($100-150 million)
Choice four: A big hit ($150 million and up).

[ ImagineerBoy, I hope you don't mind that I just changed your poll, I don't mean to overstep any boundaries or come across as a jerk. Just trying to be a helpful Disney pal ;) :) ]

For anyone who cares, Lizzie only made 42.7 million and Holes only made 67.3 million. In each case they were considered big hits because they were so cheap to make even though $$-wise they didn't make a lot.

I think you're probally right on both accounts. I think HM will open to a big number, but fade rather quickly.

1. Eddie Murphy isn't what he used to be.
2. The movie doesn't seem to be as good as POTC.

As far as CITH, I think people that are going to see it because it's Dr. Seuss, will be terribly disapointed and will have bad word of mouth.

The movie does look good. It'll be Eddie Murphy's best in a long time. He hasn't had a real big hit since Nutty Professor 2, though Dr. Dolittle 2 in 2001 made some good money. The movie seems to have a good storyline and despite all this crying from these critics who are putting the film down, it's going to do good whether they like it or not. I know of many people who are awaiting its release, and plan to go the first day. I know I'm going on November 26th.

I expect 50+ million for the first week, and 170+ million is a nice finishing number.

i am going to disagree with everyone. i don't think it's going to do very well at all. i talked to a customer at work about it, she was the one who said it wasn't going to be good because of the time of release and the kind of movie it seems to be. so she wasn't interested. i also know a lot of people who are just burned out by Eddie Murphy that will not go see it just for that fact. he hasn't had a very good, in my opinion, live action movie since Dr. Doo Little and that wasn't even all that memorible.

And to think Beverly Hills Cop 4 is hanging on this movie.

I say it'll have the weekend and maybe the next but not more than that.

as for the fan base: i'm a huge fan and will go see it for one fo two reasons: 1-i've got a free ticket from the video game and 2-i want to se how visual this is.

as for plot and actors? again my customer agreed w8ith that: bad choices.
