Haunted Mansion Holiday

When does the Haunted Mansion close to be changed over for the haunted mansion holiday?

I'm pretty sure it's in September (which unfortunately is when we're looking at going) but does any one have actual dates for this year?

No exact dates yet, but the September changeover usually takes between 15 and 17 days. Looking at the calendar, I would expect HalloweenTime to begin at Disneyland this year on Friday, September 14th. That would put the Mansion rehab start date around August 27th or 28th.

If HalloweenTime doesn't begin until Friday the 21st of September, then you'd need to adjust those dates accordingly.

The rehab for Space Mountain to install the Ghost Galaxy overlay usually only takes 2 or 3 days, and Ghost Galaxy always opens the same day as Haunted Mansion Holiday to begin the Halloween season.

What are the past dates for this? I would like to know as well since September is probably the time we will be going as well.

Or how can you find out the dates for sure for 2012?

For this year I would guess the same dates that TP2000 has posted of, Aug 27- Sept 13 and Space Mountain taking Sept 10-Sept 13.

Ah that might suck. Our unofficial time to go is September 1-10th. Nothing written in stone yet, but still. Being a huge fan of Haunted Mansion at WDW, should I actually plan the trip around it being open? Is Haunted Mansion at DL good enough to do that?

Haunted Mansion at Disneyland is similar enough to the WDW version that I wouldn't worry about it. The house exteriors are different, and some of the various show scenes are staged differently at Disneyland. But the major and minor plot points and visuals are all the same, and the rides are quite similar.

But... Haunted Mansion Holiday is something totally different. And since it's only offered in Anaheim and at Tokyo Disneyland, it would likely be something worthwhile to consider a date change.

Thanks for your help guys,

I'm not a fan of A Nightmare Before Christmas so kinda consider the change blasphemy... Unless people really rave about it.

What's the general feedback?

I will almost certainly plan my visit to ensure I get to see the original haunted mansion in its normal form.

I've never seen A Nightmare Before Christmas myself, I only know of the movie from the holiday overlay. And I absolutely LOVE Haunted Mansion Holiday!

They only do Fastpass for Haunted Mansion at Disneyland during the Holiday overlay, due to the wild demand for the Holiday ride. It's extremely popular, especially the first few weeks it's open in late September when everyone wants to see what they added and/or what the animated gingerbread house in the Ballroom looks like that year (it's a different gingerbread house concept every year). Lines get particularly long for Haunted Mansion Holiday after sundown when the lights and hundreds of candles decorating the house turn on.

Otherwise, the rest of the year, Disneyland's Haunted Mansion is pretty much a walk-on and doesn't offer Fastpass.

It's A Small World Holiday at Disneyland has the same scenario; short to no waits for most of the year, with epic lines during the Holiday version especially after sundown when the lights turn on.
