For all you Haunted Mansion fans, I'd like to share something you've probably seen, but perhaps have forgotten about.

One interesting thing the narrator of this piece confirms is that when you are going into the graveyard scene, you are indeed "falling" from the house, confirming a suspicion I've had since I was a kid. I used to think you were dying and joining the spirits in the graveyard, but never had consensus.

There are a ton of other interesting nuggets in this piece and is well worth the watch.

Anyone know the name of the engineer giving the tour?

You're all welcome.

This guy is a phenomenal speaker and story teller. The words just flow out of his mouth and there is no "uhm, uhh" filler. He tells a good story and explains things so well.

What a fabulous video! Although for me it took almost 15 minutes for the audio and video to sync up. Otherwise, I loved hearing all the stories, plus the music and howling in the background just makes me look forward to going on it on our next trip! :cat:

Wow! That was awesome! I have never seen that before. But Haunted Mansion is one of my all time favorites, and I love me some Tony Baxter! Thanks for posting.

I don't think this is a consensus or a confirmation.
People are free to interpret the ride's rather oblique "story" however, they like, but I don't think what Baxter says here is necessarily proof one way or the other of what Davis, Crump, Coats, and the other people who actually conceived and worked on the ride intended the effect to be.
If you listen closely, Baxter seems to be frequently conflating details of the original two mansions and France's Phantom Manor, which he did work on and would have been fresh on his mind when this was shot.

Baxter doesn't really know what he's talking about here and his constant plugs for Phantom Manor in this interview kinda make me cringe.

You don't die in HM. That wouldn't make any sense.

Tony Baxter is the best. Every time I watch him talk about his job, I can tell he cares so much about it. He's one of the good ones, man.
I've been fortunate to meet Tony Baxter. This was 2005 and I had asked what the fate of COP was and he said he wasn't sure but wants it to stay. He then asked me which song I prefer, old or current. I was so happy that he took an interest in our conversation and asked my opinion. He really is one of the best and I love watching his interviews.

I was wondering if it ever synced up. I only watched a certain amount before getting annoyed at the Kung Fu Theater effect.

And I can assure you, even if you don't watch the first 14 minutes, you will want to listen to it while doing something else. It's totally worth it. So many nuggets.
