Haunted Mansion at the studios

Monday night several semi trucks pulled into Disney MGM studios carrying inside them the huge ballroom set pieces from the upcoming Haunted Mansion movie. The ballroom scene's set is the one brought from California and it will be making it's way to wherevere the old 101 dalmations set is currently located...yes, it's still there. The ballroom set will be part of a new backstage experince allowing guests to see some of the movie magic created in the new movie. Creative consultants are currently working on trying to incorporate a "show element" that would be something along the lines of the playful spirits taking over the tour in the ballroom and using some sensory effects and movie magic type effects to enhace the experience. Also, i know the mansion has housed special dinners in the past for events in he MK, and now that "magical gatherings" is planned to be under way, this is going to make it more difficult to hold the evnt in the MK b/c of thr large numbers of people this package could be made available to. To solve the problem, there are plans of moving the dinner to the mansion set at the studios. And finally, there is work being done on some special promotion for the movie including walk around charcters of the 3 hitch hiking ghosts for the studios and MK (just think, you're ghost host tells you a "ghost will follow you home," you come out of the masion and there they are:sohappy: )
Also invitations have been sent out to some of the big actors in the movie reguesting they make an appearence at WDW for the premier of the film. NO word on who has or might accept the invitation for the event.
Thats all i've got for now.

That's great news! Mabey they'll finally get some use out of that area of the Studios and bring back the Backstage Pass.

Isn't it kinda wierd, though, that Disney may be making an attraction based on a movie....that's based on a Disney attraction?

About time they replaced the 101 dalmations stuff. How long has it been there? Seems like a while. It all sounds very interesting.

This sounds pretty cool. I was hoping we would get something new at Backstage Pass soon. I love being able to see the movie sets and props at the Studios so this sounds like it would be a great addition. It is kind of wierd that it's an attraction based on a film based on an attraction. Any hope on having any Pirates props there too? Probably not, but just wondering.

As far as "pirates" goes, i haven't heard anything however since it's doing so well in the box office, it would be a wonderful contribution to the studios. It's been a while since Disney has had a real nice sucuess in live action movies. 101 dalmations wasn't even extremly sucsesful but the sets created for the movie were beautiful. This will give the studios a boost with something new without spending a ton of money (even though the cost to ship the set here was not small). Plus it'll be a great promotion for the movie as well as the attraction. Disney wants to try to keep these classic attractions new and fresh to a different generation. One can only hope the movie will be a sucess but even if it isn't as great as they are promoting it at least the studios will get something new and fresh.:animwink:
