Hey everyone-
Has anyone done this?
We are thinking going to it when we go in October, but the reviews on allearsnet are less than impressive.
Can anyone share their experience and advice?

We did it in early May. Disappointed, to say the least. It is rushed - get you in, get a plate of food, and before you can even finish eating (especially with a larger group or younger children), it's time for the band to start, which makes it almost unbearably loud. Then it's dancing time, character time, and dessert time, all rolled into one. It could be very fun, if they allowed time for it.

In went in June and didn't think it was half bad. I think its perfect for children with short attention spans. Sloppy bbq food and lots of alcohol, what could be better. Definetly for younger children, but a lot more casual than most disney stuff. Also, the characters dance with the kids, so there's a lot more interaction than most other character dinning. Just get there early, it will be worth it to get a good spot, as they just line you up outside before hand, and just let you loose on the buffet. Plus the characters interact with the line, so you can get your pictures out of the way then.

We went on the last evening of our trip this past May. Thought it would be a great way to cap of our vacation. We were staying in FW cabins and had a very early flight the following morning, so this seemed like a good choice for the last night. It turned out to be the biggest disappointment of the trip. Mediocre food (did not expect it to be great), but worst of all, the whole evening turned into one big autograph session. My boys were having a blast dancing with the characters, but that ended in about five minutes. The rest of the evening Mickey & the gang were just signing for people. I had read other reviews stating the same thing, but wanted to give it a try. My mistake. Not a cheap night, not a fun time = never again. Try Hoop Dee Doo.

We did it last December. The food mediocore, however if you have kids who love to sing and dance and listen to the same, they might have a good time. My 12 year old enjoyed it. My DW and myself could take it or leave it and for the price we wouldn't do it again. However my son enjoyed it, so we are doing it again for him. If you can do the Hoop-de-Doo, you might find it more enjoyable for you and equally enjoyable for kids.

I have never gone, so I was resisting chiming in, but in this case I have just heard so many things from so many people that reflect the above posts that I had to mention it. As far as character meals, it's notoriously the worst. It's a really good idea - just implemented very badly. I looked into it a year or two ago and really couldn't find a positive word anyone had to say about it.

We only went because Birnbaum said it was so great, and if it were offered year-round, they'd make it the number one dinner show. Usually they have good reviews, but this was one time Birnbaum was really off base.
