Has Anybody Been to the Garden Grill Recently?

Hi! We're leaving for our trip next Saturday and my sister finally decides to start being involved in our trip, and of course, she does it in the most annoying way possible.
She's currently just looking up menus of our ADRs and complaining about them even though I ran them by her a billion times before reserving them :banghead: go figure!
However, one thing that did catch my attention was that we couldn't find the fish on the menu of the Garden Grill anymore and all we saw was italian sausage instead. Can anyone who's been there recently verify if they still have the fish because my mom doesn't eat meat so we're just hoping there's still an alternative for her.
Thanks!

Actually, I recently read that sustainable fish is available on the dinner menu, but not on the luncheon, menu. You may want to call Disney to verify that.

@Tuvalu , did they change up the menu recently, perhaps?

This dinner menu is not current. The correct menu can be found on the official Disney site.

I'm guessing yes, since there was no fish on the menu list outside the restaurant and our 3rd meat was Italian sausage. Our server also told us everything she would bring out (since it is family style) and had she mentioned fish, we would have asked her not to include it as we are not fish eaters.

Interesting because I went to their site and the same thing was listed.

One additional thought on the fish/no fish question ~ it is possible Garden Grill was out of fish on Thursday night. We have encountered eliminations/substitutions at Disney restaurants before, and also discovered last week the Chefs de France no longer has a lunch menu with yummy quiche, crepes and brioche burger :arghh:

@danitaytay, if there is not a fish option, I am sure the chef will prepare something that your mother can eat. Tell the host at check in that mom has special dietary requirements.

We had dinner there the end of February. We had beef, turkey, sausage and fish. We couldn't believe the amount of food they brought out!

Thank you! Wow, that's a lot of food lol! Hopefully it'll be the same for us honestly though so my mom can get the fish [even though none of us really like sausage!]

Ah, gotcha, thank you so much! I hate how Disney is changing all their menus and cheapening out on us! We were so looking forward to this meal, especially because it had a nice option for everyone in the family and they wouldn't have to make any substitutions for me [I'm lactose intolerant], but if there's no fish we'll have to see if we can ask for it!

If your Mom doesn't eat meat for medical or religious reasons then it is considered a special dietary requirement. If she doesn't eat meat because she is vegetarian then that is a lifestyle choice. There are vegetables on the menu.

We ate there for dinner in mid March and it was sausage and not fish. One of my sister's who I do disney with frequently sounds waaaaay to similar to yours. I fixed mine by making her do all the adr's, fps etc for one of our trips...and I questioned everything just like her and sent "friendly" reminders about booking dates etc...until she finally got the hint that you don't always get what you want, you have to plan ahead, it takes some planning and doesn't happen magically and he who waits until the last minute and doesn't do any work only qualifies to smile and shut the heck up.

Yeah, my mom can't eat meat because of her IBS. So they'd be able to accommodate that, because that'd be awesome :)

Dang, I guess I'll see if I can request the fish or else my mom will be munching on bread and salad lol! Haha gotta love sisters! They manage to stay out of your way up until they point where they finally do and are so annoying.

I can't help but ask: what of it?

Personally, I don't drink fizzy drinks (/soft drinks / soda / pop / coke whatever name is used in anybody's colony). I don't drink them as a lifestyle choice instead of for a religious reason. So what? If somebody gives me attitude about my ordering milk or water instead, I will take my business to a competent place elsewhere.

I believe he (she?) was talking about a restaurant making special accommodations with an off-menu offering, not about what your order from what's on the menu. In other words, a vegetarian might be better off skipping Casey's Corner rather than going in demanding a Caesar salad.

To the OP's question, I was at Garden Grill for lunch in January and received all of the above: fish AND sausage AND turkey AND beef. I believe it's incorrect to assume that the sausage "replaced" the fish because they were both on the menu at the same time at some point in the recent past. That's the problem with "sustainable" fish. There's only so much of it.

Although I understand the distinction you are making, this is not true in how Disney treats the situation. If someone doesn't eat meat, or peanuts, or whatever, Disney is not going to probe you for an explanation of why. The chef is not going to agree to prepare something for one person and not for another. Anyone who has dietary restrictions, regardless of the reason, is treated the same.
