These aren't very comparable attractions.
They are the two standout, big budget immersive rides at both California Adventure and Universal Studios Hollywood. Both rides costed over $100 million to create. Both rides are the main rides of their respective lands (Cars Land and Hogsmeade). Both rides use incredible special effects, stellar theming, and great thrills to match. Both rides are extremely ambitious and well done, and two of the best theme parks rides ever made.

Although I enjoy RS Racers more, I think HP is such a mind-blowingly innovative and immersive ride, I gotta vote for the one that makes me motion sick. Also, although I enjoy Cars, HP is by far the better IP to build an attraction around.

RSR holds up better today than FJ, but FJ is really the ride that revolutionized the theme-park industry.

RSR is just so grand and seamless, whereas FJ just maximizes the resources it does have. Both master-classes.

KUKA technology is criminally underutilized in theme parks, so lets hope that Classic Monsters headliner E-Ticket attraction changes that.

Similar take but I voted the other way because of it, RSR is a must ride every trip and I’ve probably ridden it 100 times, I’ve been on FJ 3 times and the last 2 times I got off regretting it. It’s cool tech but if it makes a substantial portion of your audience sick that’s a pretty big strike against its quality.

(Ironically I did better the first time when it was 3d, when they went to 2d to try to fix the motion sickness issues it got worse for me.)

I love Forbidden Journey, but MAN I wish half the vehicles could be programmed with a milder “B” mode riders could choose.

Only one ride has made me more motion sick, and that’s Cosmic Rewind, which I honestly don’t think I’m going to try again.

It’s interesting how different rides affect people differently, I was totally fine on Cosmic Rewind but Ratatouille makes me queasy every time and I even struggled a bit with Space220, not horrible but not fun either.

Forbidden Journey SHOULD have the win here, BUT:
1. USH made the baffling decision of making the attraction MORE restrictive than the older version at IOA.
2. It's just too active for me to ride it over and over again. While it hasn't ever made me actually throw up, the ride messes with me in a way that other rides don't-and I'm someone who goes out of my way to go to amusement parks and ride roller coasters-not just parks owned by Disney and Universal, but all of them. And if that ride messes with ME, I can't imagine how much it might mess with other people. I do remember it basically ended my aunt, who generally doesn't go on rides at all, for the rest of the day and I can't imagine that's a rare occurrence.

So while Forbidden Journey is more impressive, RSR is ultimately more functional and pleasant to experience, and therefore gets my vote.

Both have spectacular, jaw-dropping elements (RSR’s rockwork; FJ’s queue) and, if I’m really being critical, both have frustrating somewhat-chintzy qualities (RSR’s frequently-broken projections; FJ’s stationary spiders/puppets on a stick). I love both attractions and think they’re modern classics among the best ever in the industry.

But between the facade, queue, and wildly inventive ride system (and even in spite of its story/script problems), there’s something about FJ that is just so much greater than the sum of its parts. I vote FJ.
