Harry and Vernon's May 2007 adventure (brief recap)
Highlights: Arranged a meeting with Nemo14 on the first full day, and had an unplanned meeting with NCState on last full day. It's always great to meet frinds from the forum face to face.
This was a great trip for making new friends while we stood in line and while we waited for shows to start. Also made new friends among the cast members, especially several in the Animal Kingdom trails. Hello to Lou and Lilly! We discovered we have many "old friends" among the cast members. More and more of them remembered us from previous trips. Special "hello" to Cousin Tom at 50's Prime Time, the members of the Voices of Liberty, and to the streetmosphere performers at Disney MGM who welcomed us back.
Food! Great lunch at Whispering Canyon! Vernon joined in the hobby horse parade. I kept eating! Also enjoyed great lunches at San Angel and 50s Prime Time, and enjoyed the rotisserie chicken at Tusker House probably for the last time before it turns into a buffet. Great lamb platter from Morocco counter service. The Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station was actually open! We enjoyed a light dinner there.
Attractions: As always, we enjoyed Soarin', Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo The Musical, Beauty and the Beast, Rockin Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Pirates of the Caribbean, Expedition Everest, and many more. Highlight - a cast member saw us heading for the fast pass entrance at tower of terror and took us in the back way up the cast member elevator, bypassing the pre-show. We might have gotten further up into the tower if another cast member hadn't gotten onto the elevator and said we couldn't go past the 2nd floor. Other highlight: The first time we rode Tower of Terror we had the car to ourselves! Of course, we bought the picture!
Resort: Caribbean Beach did not disappoint. We enjoyed the food court for a couple of meals, relaxed in the quiet pool and in the big pool, and were quite comfortable in our room in Jamaica. Only suggestion is that the hookup for the internet needs to be more convenient to the table, like it is in Coronado Springs.
The drive: We drove down just before "love bug" season started, and had a couple of brief heavy downpours to wash any other road debris from the car. The drive back was a little more treacherous. While we barely noticed the smoke from the brushfires in the parks, as soon as we got on the freeway the smoke got almost too dense to see the road, and stayed that way until the Georgia line. We feel lucky to have made it through, and send our prayers for the people who are living in the middle of all that.
We hope to go back sometime this fall to celebrate our 20th anniversary!
All for now.....
