Hard Rock Targets Jamaican Imitators
(Orlando Business Journal) -- Hard Rock Cafe International has sealed a deal with four Jamaican businesses using the Orlando firm's trademarked name. The retail outlets and restaurants -- Hard Rock Ltd., Hard Rock Cafe Factory Outlet Jamaica Ltd., Hard Rock Reggae Ltd., and Herb Rock Cafe Ltd. -- have agreed to stop using the Hard Rock trademark on everything from souvenir bags to restaurant names. The four companies have also agreed to change their corporate names. With more than 100 cafes in 40 countries, Hard Rock is a wholly owned subsidiary of London-based The Rank Group.
