I run because i can.

I accomplish something.

I run to set goals.

I run because it makes me feel great.

I run for my health

I run to get the bling! (there, I said it)

Happy Running Day! I run because I can. Sometimes I don't feel up to it, but I hear Tony Horton's voice in my head. Do your best and forget the rest.

I ran 3.25 miles in 30 minutes this morning in prep for September's Tower of Terror 10 miler.

Running 1.5 miles, 2 miles, or even (eeeek!) a 5K was always in my mind as something tough to do. But with patience, practice, and support, a 5K is not all that bad.

A 10-mile distance race seems attainable by September.

Never thought I would be a distance runner after being a 200 meter specialist in high school.

I run because it lets me forget everything else and just be.

I run because luckily I still can.

I run for those in my family and friends who can't.

I'm about to head out for my run. Switched up my training schedule my week and luckily a run landed just on the right day.

I'll be honest I skipped a training day this weekend (eek I know) because I just wasn't feeling it but now I realize it isn't how far you get in those short runs or how fast you complete your long ones it is just that you push through no matter how bad your day is. We all have bad days but we can put our chins up and just go even if it isn't our best action is better than none.

I posted this a few years ago, but I saved it because I wanted to print it out for my running journal, so here it is again:

Why do I run? There are so many reasons. In no particular order:

1 - It keeps me healthy and fit.
2 - It enables me to eat as much junk food as I do! LOL
3 - It's "me time" away from the kids, my job, everything.
4 - My thoughts flow in a way that they just don't during structured time. I find resolutions to problems, come up with ideas, etc.
5 - It's a huge stress reliever. I can take off on a run feeling stressed or angry or frustrated about something, and when I return, it has all washed away.
6 - It gives me more patience to take care of my kids.
7 - When I listen to my iPod while running, nobody tells me to "turn off that country music crap!" LOL
8 - It sets a good example for my kids to keep healthy and make exercise a part of their life.
9 - Running is a sport that I can do anywhere and a way to see the world differently. I've had some amazing runs in other states and countries.
10 - Running is something that does not come naturally or easy to me, so when I complete a particularly hard workout or set a PR, I feel a sense of enormous pride for knowing that I stuck with it and succeeded.
11 - Endorphin high! No matter how badly I may prefer to stay in bed at 5:30am than get up and run in some crappy weather, I have learned that I will feel so good when I return (maybe not during the run but definitely after it) that it will be worth it. And it ALWAYS is.

I wouldn't be running if it wasn't for Disney. One January I saw the cones and tents and had to find out what was going on. Then I met a woman at Teppan Edo who had just run the marathon, saw the bling, and it was on. Now I even love doing the small local races.

Had to run 1/4 mile under a certain time in football practice and hated it. I was also a sprinter in school. 50 & 100-yards. Back before track switched to meters. I'm old.

That is so true.
