No it's not the furry little rodent. It's 6.02 x 10 raised to the 23rd power or
602,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 of something (kind of like a dozen means 12 of something). Hence, it is celebrated (by geeks around the world) on October 23 (10/23) at 6:02 in the morning til 6:02 in the evening. In chemistry it's how we keep track of atoms and molecules. It's a whole lot of stuff. For example, a mole of pennies stacked would reach from the sun to pluto (the planet, not the dog) 205 million times. That's a lot of pennies! And yet a mole of water molecules is about 18 mL, just a few tablespoons(because they're so tiny). So Happy Mole Day to all.
In the spirit of full disclosure ... I'm Mr. PhD and I approved this message. Mrs. PhD had nothing to do with it so don't blame her!
