Today Disney's California Adventure turns 9 years old.

A look back-
Heres a great look back at DCA in 2001 including video of the grand opening celebrations of DCA, GCH, Soarin, Muppets, ABC Soap Opera Bistro(now closed and home to Playhouse Disney),and Golden Dreams(now closed and torn down for Little Mermaid-Ariel's Undersea Adventure). Interesting to note that Steve Davison also put together the beautiful grand opening show for DCA. As well as photos of DCA 9 years ago, look how tiny the trees are!

Coming up in the next few years
With a billion dollar expansion just starting to fully become a reality heres to the next many years, with World of Color, Little Mermaid, Buena Vista Street/Red Car Trolleys, Carsland and the hopes that phase 2 will get kicked in to add even more.

To all who believe in the power of dreams... welcome. Disney's California Adventure opens its golden gates to you. Here we pay tribute to the dreamers of the past... The native people, explorers, immigrants, aviators, entrepreneurs and entertainers who built the Golden State. And we salute a new generation of dreamers who are creating the wonders of tomorrow ... From the silver screen to the computer screen ... From the fertile farmlands to the far reaches of space. Disney's California Adventure celebrates the richness and the diversity of California ... Its land, its people, its spirit and, above all, the dreams that it continues to inspire.

Happy Birthday, DCA! To the amazing park that keeps growing, evolving, and getting better each year. Despite the negative remarks some might make about the park, it's still my favorite! There's nothing like taking a stroll through the Grizzly Peak area, taking in the sunset at the Winery, enjoying a meal in Pacific Wharf.. or watching the Screamin trains take off at night as the lights glitter in Paradise Bay. This 9th year will prove to be one of the biggest in its history, with the opening of World of Color - the park's first and biggest nighttime show ever. This is a very big, and colorful, year for the park!

Looking back at the opening day festivities again.. I really miss Golden Dreams :(
