Halo 2

well after a long, I guess it was 4 years?, waiting and anticipating the so called greatest game ever to come out to xbox. Halo 2, I'd have to say I was very disapointed in it. Maybe it was just me but I just didn't think it lived up to its "hype" The story was alright, the ending has to be the most sudden thing. You would think that after 4 long years they could have a more decent ending. It was so sudden, they could have easily added many more levels to it. But I tell you what, they REALLY set it up for a Halo 3, so maybe when ever halo 3 comes out, it will be better. But for now, I found the halo 2 single player to be disapointing.

But with the multiplayer, the MP levels are alright, I really miss the original ones, but some of the new ones are fun. It's pretty pointless tho to only play 2 on 2, a LAN game or System Link really makes it awsome. The new weapons and vehicles that you get to use make it great. I love the energy sword, with its lock on lunge attack, its great.

well im done blabbing, leave me your halo 2 opinions, i'd love to hear them!

bunch of people have posted their thoughts on halo in other treads, so i won't type them all over. i wasn't to fond of single player at first, i think it was just the initial shock of the ending. but the more i thought obout it, i liked it.

think about the original star wars trilogy. at the end of the empire strikes back it was a huge cliff hanger of han solo frozen and vader is lukes father. i'm not trying to compare halo to star wars, cause i'm not. just think of the games as movies. the second one has to leave you in the worst possible spot imaginable. i think halo did just that.

multiplayer is where it is at in this game. i have to say that i hate the sword in multi player though, if it degraded over time like it does in the single player, it would make for a more fair game for everyone, instead of one guy hiding in a corner for an entire game.

its amazingly easy, you need atleast cable or dsl, and an ethernet cable. when you start up your xbox, it will download the program and update your xbox, then you register put in your credit card number etc.. btw when you get halo 2, you get 2 months of xbox live free!!

I waited in line at my local GameStop to get it at midnight and played until that morning and went to work, came home and played again.

I beat the game on Normal the following day (somewhere in the 10 -12 hour range). I too was shocked by the ending and the twists in the game (I'll hold the spoilers) and I know I really wanted to keep on playing.

HOWEVER,

Since then, I have finished the game on Heroic and am in the final 1/4 of the game on Legendary.
I think the game is getting better each time I play through. I think Normal was easier than Normal on Halo 1 (perhaps trying to reach to a wider audience) but Heroic seems to be the best to play it on. The strategies change and you'l find new areas, weapons, etc that you may not have found the first time.
I found myself noticing the sheer beauty of the game and the hints of storyline that I missed the first time through. It probably was a combination of the all-nighter and just wanting to rush through the game, but the 2nd time (and third) was a joy.

But multiplayer is what I always loved Halo for. Every other week I hosted a LAN party with pizza, wings, and all the drinks one could want. Good times. Good times.

Now with multi on Xbox Live, this ratches an already great game up to one of the best. I challenge anyone to find a better online experince. Custom games, joining clans, stat-tracking, and all the games I've played are lag-free.

Look me up, if anyone is on Live.

Gamertag in sig.

Just bought an XBox, asking for Halo 2 for Christmas :D

BTW, How hard is it to set up XBox Live?
TestDummy is right on.
You'll need a broadband connection (cable or dsl, no dialup)
Take a standard network cable (ethernet) and plug it into the built-in network adapter in the back of the Xbox. (You probably even got a network cable with your broadband modem)

It truly is one of the most seamless out-of-the-box ways to get online.

You'll need a credit card (for the purchase of premium games / content and next years Live) Your first year is paid by the purchase of the Xbox Live kit and you will not be charged anything unless you buy premium content (of which the majority is free anyway).

Xbox Live is well worth it IMO because of the security first and foremost. (Cheaters and hacks have ruined the PC online experience for me.) You have a common gamertag and can make a buddies list. Imagine your buddies list from Messenger, seeing whos online and what they are playing. You can make cross-game invites and friends only games too.

I'd be careful about the February rumor.
I've beaten the game once on Easy, Normal, Heroic, and twice on Legendary and nary a screen or a hint of mysterious date or event.

I heard the rumor the first week after Halo 2 came out and was pretty sure it was debunked as an internet rumor. (Especially since there has been no proof - photographic or otherwise)
