Halloween At WDW

I usually visit during a non-Holiday or during X-Mas (the last couple of visits it has been way too crowded at X-Mas week so it's not as fun as it used to be)... I was considering Halloween 2014, and had some questions, hopefully someone can help me out...

If X-Mas week attendance is 10/10 how would you rate the week of Halloween?

I am familiar with the 4 parks... and from what I have been able to find online the park that changes the most during this season is the Magic Kingdom... there's also an event called Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween... I suppose that you pay for it besides the regular park ticket something like $70 and that it takes places at MK at night?

But what is it exactly, what takes place?

What about the other 3 parks, besides some decorations is there anything really worthwhile??

Well, as far as the Halloween party goes, there are special additional decorations at night (like a big skull projected onto Big Thunder Mountain). There's trick or treating at various areas (hit Splash Mountain, you'll get a ton of candy), the Boo to You Parade (awesome), Halloween fireworks (ditto), the Villains show, and meet & greets exclusive to the party. For example, in addition to characters who come out for special events (like the Princes), this past year featured the cast of Tarzan and Jack & Sally from the Nightmare before Christmas. It's a really fun time.

For the other parks, Animal Kingdom has Bat Day on October 31 at Rafiki's Planet Watch. Epcot doesn't do anything special outside of the stuff that's already set up for the Food & Wine Festival (if you DO decided to do that, hit that on a weekday between 11a-5p).

Also, this year on Halloween, most of the resorts had characters out to meet and give out candy, like the Three Caballeros at Coronado Springs.

Overall, Halloween might possibly be even more fun at WDW than Christmas, and Christmas at WDW is pretty darn fun.

Edit: As far as attendance, I would rate it as 5-7 out of 10. Busy, but not nearly as bad as Christmas or certain times of summer. The sole exception would be, as alluded to before, World Showcase at Epcot on the weekends and weeknights after about 5pm, as veritable hordes of people looking to get their drink on descend en masse on the Food and Wine Festival. The bright spot is that for the most part, they're focused on the actual walkway around the showcase; once in a pavilion, things are a little less cramped.

In addition to above, Downtown Disney also has treat and treating goodies for the kids. We went one year and it was crazy crowded but fun.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is one of my all-time favorite events WDW does. Whatever age you are, it is an absolute blast! The decorations are absolutely amazing and get you in the spirit. (The pumpkins on Main Street are my favorite). You can go trick-or-treating at stations all over MK. It doesn't matter if you dress up or not... Plus a bunch of characters are out. You can take your picture with the villains, in front of Cinderella's carriage, or my favorite, taking your picture with all 7 dwarfs (also available at Christmas). There is also a dance party in Tomorrowland, etc. Overall, the atmosphere of the park is just awesome! Though the icing on the cake is by far the Boo to You Parade. It is the best parade ever! They toss candy at you and the characters and costumes featured are stunning. I definitely recommend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party - definitely.
