How soon do you guys think Disney will implement a new animatronic Obama or McCain in the Hall of Presidents in Magic Kingdom?

Thanks.

I think it goes down for quite awhile (very technical response, I know )....I'm pretty sure when I was there in July 2000 it was still down for W to get finished.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. I'm sure someone else, maybe Martin (he knows everything :)!), can be more specific.

Why would they bother? If there is one thing they are going to spend alot of money doing with the Hall of Presidents, it would have to be demolition.

I could be wrong, but I believe what will happen is that when Bush's term is over, the script will be changed referring to Bush as the country's 43rd president (not current president as it states now) and that the new AA would not be installed for at least a year. Once the new president is elected, there is a process of sculpting the likeness of the new president, creating the AA, script, etc, etc. Its not a quick process from what I recall.

I wouldnt mind them just reverting back to when Reagan was president and leaving it at that...:ROFLOL:

How long is the whole thing now?

Just watched it last week. I believe that it shows every thirty minutes. That includes loading and unloading the theater, so I think the show itself is 20 minutes, ten of which is animated narration and ten the actual presidents themselves.

That is correct, sir. I believe they need a week or two for installation and programming once the AA is completed.

Wasn't it down for a few months last time around?

PS... the thread has survived for nearly 12 hours without degenerating into a complete politcal flamewar. Well done.

I tell ya one thing...I hope to g-d that that idiot....

I kid, I kid....I won't be the one to start the bickering in this thread.

But holy corn dogs! They're gonna have to put an intermission into the show by the time we get to 50 presidents....either that or they're going to have to talk very fast...

btw, didn't George W Bush and Bill Clinton record their own lines for the attraction instead of using a voice actor? That is probably what took so long for their refurbs... Whoever becomes Number 44 will need to take the time for however they do the face scan for the AA (if I remember correctly, they've been reusing the same body for the past couple models) and to record the script.

I just typed something really funny, but again, I'll save it for if the thread "goes there" :lookaroun

Anyway...maybe if the show gets to be too long they should get rid of everyone except Abe and have him referree a "Beat Down" between Obama and Hillary! Advanced Audio Animatronics at their best!

I suspect when there is not enough space on the floor, they could rebuild it similar to american adventure. Having moving floors come in with specific groupings of presidents. They could also just extend the floor out the back and make another level. That will create room for at least another 15 or so. By my calculations that would be another 60 years with the next 15 presidents only serving a single terms before they would have to really figure out what to do with the building.

 It's a honor to have a nice display even if there's a few there that some don't care for . It's a great place.:)

LOL oh that's sad but true.

I'm always trying to go to the HOP and I always show up just after the show arrived and they won't let you in late, and I'm not willing to wait another half hour for the next show! I haven't seen if for, like, 10 years!!!

If memory serves me correctly, the last time it was down to add W - it seems like it was about 4 months. Not all that long. Pretty cool process.

IMO - Great show and one that all Americans should take the time to watch.

Well it would be very inconvenient for planning purposes should any of the next 15 presidents croak/get shot/get impeached/step down due to scandal during the next 60 years...next thing you know we'll be looking at only 25 years to plan! We'll have to redraft the contract when swearing them in....

I really need to see it again. The American Adventure makes me cry! It's so embarrassing! I have to wear my sunglasses out of there!!!

I agree. Very good. Now Knock on wood!

I think I'll try it out when I go back in November, I haven't been to HOP since I was probably 6 years old. I just remember falling asleep, and I couldn't believe my parents tortured us kids by going on it.

 So many people give this attraction a bad wrap. Forgive my babbling but I wrote my senior honors thesis about the American Adventure and the Hall of Presidents so I get a little testy about this hehe. The technology alone in these attractions is incredible and you should really give it a shot especially if you are an American.

The show is just shy of 25 minutes... 25 minutes of air conditioned bliss for an American history/Disney dork like me.

yes George and Bill recorded their bits by themselves. in addition, George's AA wears exactly the same kind of clothes etc (like the replica of his actual watch) that actual George sports. All of the other presidents also wear clothes that would have been constructed in the same way they would have been during each give time period. For example the really old guys' (thats the scholarly term) clothes are hand sewn.

But to get back to the original question: it is also my understanding that sketches and such of the candidates are already underway, but i could be wrong. i really don't know how long the refurb will take. i am curious to see how it turns out no matter who the next President will be.

if anyone wants to know any other trivia about AA or HoP I'm always up for it
