Half days with ADRs... Would you??

Quick poll for the wdwmagic crew here!

So last week I received a call asking if I could attend a five day work conference in Orlando during the last week of June! Turns out I'm staying in DTD (albeit not a disney hotel) and meetings will wrap up by 2 each day - leaving me plenty of time for my first solo adventures at disney world!

I'm planning on purchasing a four day park hopper but figure I won't have time to do too much hopping.

My question to you is if you were in my shoes would you book a few ADRs?

I think I'd rather have the freedom to check out wait times at different parks during the morning in order to head to the least busy park that day rather than being stuck going to the park with the ADR... But then again I do love a nice sit down meal...

Love to hear your thoughts and any other wisdom anyone's willing to pass along!

It's not really an issue of wisdom. It just depends on whether you want to sit down in restaurants or not.

Me, I wouldn't. I'd try to eat in the hotel or grab a quick bite in the parks. But that's me. You should do whatever floats your boat.

Have fun!!!

Thanks for the replies and poll votes! Figure I may book two dinners on the least busy days of the conference but kind of looking forward to the freedom - especially since its my first solo trip!

I chose No but would still go to MK even if it wasn't the least crowded park on the 1/2 day that I went to. If I have 1/2 day only I'm going to go to MK. Meals would be quick service as to lessen my non attraction time while I was there.

You're already losing out on a lot of park time being in the conferences. I'd get out of the work thing, head to the park thats the least crowded and make the most of the afternoon and evening. I might schedule one ADR ( your favorite place) for the last day just to reward myself for putting up with the conference. ;)

Good thinking. Scheduled only one for a place I've never been but always wanted to try - sci fi diner. I think it'll be a great place for a solo meal since I can watch a movie while waiting for food.

I know I'll be more than satisfied with the classic quick service restaurants at MK and turkey leg stand! At Epcot, I'm excited to tour WS and grab what I'm in the mood for and hopefully try a new experience.

Along with the freedom of no ADRs, qs a la carte will allot more room for snacks and a few extra treats which I'm usually too full to try. Coming from DDP the last few trips (and trying to get moneys worth in volume haha) this will be a welcomed change.

Also, don't tell anyone but I may catch a rare illness only cured by a dose of pixie dust in the morning on the last day.. But that'll all depend how much I can get done with the half days..

So excited! Thanks again for sharing your opinions!

I would just buy base tickets since you are only going to be there from 2 and later.

That seems like the next large decision to be made.. The convention gives a small discount on tix and the park hopper option is only 55$ more.. It may be worth it to maximize the short time I have in parks.

For example on an AK day where the park closes early, the option to head to a nighttime show at ep or hs or to head to mk for another 3-4 hours of park time may justify the extra cost.. Also, a five day pass is only 10$ more than a four day pass - so tempting since I'm there 6 nights!

If there are any restaurants which you are desperate to try, then go for it. Maybe you could just make one or two reservations, so you still have freedom to do what you feel like on a couple of the days?

My suggestion also. :)
