Hello Disney friends! Though we've never actually met, I've spent the last few years reading most of your trip reports, so I feel like I know many of you! Let me introduce myself... My name is Sarah, I live in Atlanta, and I caught the Disney bug as a wee one. I've been lucky enough to visit nearly all of the Disney parks, (I'll get to you one day, Tokyo!). Oh, and I'm getting married!
I suppose we should go back to September 2017 first. My now fiancé and I had just completed our Labor Day weekend trip to Disney, which of course means I was suffering from sever dis-depression. So, I'm sitting in a meeting when a huge bouquet of flowers is delivered to me with a note telling me to cancel all my meetings the next day, because I have a flight to catch at 6:55 AM the next morning, location TBA. Next thing I know, I'm on a plane to Orlando. Then checking into the Poly. THEN in the Magic Kingdom with a ring on my finger. What a whirlwind. We're getting married May 19 of this year. I believe I've heard there's another important wedding happening that day... some sort of Royal nuptials
.
Cut to December when I'm trying to sort out my bachelorette party. I threw a couple of ideas out to the girls and asked them to pick. Much to my surprise, all the girls were super on board with a weekend in the World with a one day, EPCOT-stravaganza. I'm so excited to share one of my favorite places on earth, with some of my favorite people on earth!
Let me introduce my cast:
Katherine: My sister, party planner, and fellow Disney AP holder.
Jennifer: We met after college, and literally bonded over our love of Disney. I believe we've made over 6 trips to Disney together, including a visit to Hong Kong Disneyland where we took this gem of a photo:
Brittany: We met in college, and while she's not quite the Disney lover I am, somehow we wound up in Disneyland while out in California
togther
Leslie: College roommate of 4 years, and recently engaged to a guy I set her up with! (In need of a match maker? just let me know
)
Katie: College friend. This was us on our last college spring break... 10 YEARS AGO. Where does the time go??
On to our trip details...
March 9-12 - Well, most of the girls are heading home on the 11th, but my sister and I will be staying through the 12th to take advantage of that Florida sunshine. If the rest of the winter is anything like what we've experienced here so far, I'll definitely be needing it!
While I know we're hitting the beginning of spring break, I was shocked at the cost of flights that weekend! Delta was over $400 out of ATL! I've NEVER paid that much. The good news is JetBlue has arrived in Atlanta, and has some amazing deals for their initial flights. $59 one way! They actually launch their inaugural direct flight from ATL to MCO on 3/8, the day before we depart. It was meant to be!
We'll be staying at Old Key West in a 2 bedroom villa. While I've stayed at several Disney resorts, OKW is a new one for me. Any suggestions?
We don't really have much planned in the way of meals. However, we do have a reservation at Homecomin' on Friday night. Otherwise, we'll be snacking through EPCOT enjoying the delish Flower and Garden Festival booths... and fish & chips in the UK. There must be fish & chips. And a Pimm's cup.
The main event for the weekend? Drinking around the world! This is an activity Jennifer, Katherine and I have enjoyed on more than one occasion. Hoping our newbies can hang! I have my usual beverages of choice, but if there are any new libations I need to know about in World Showcase, please let me know!
Well, we're just 50 days away from the most magical place on earth... until then, I'll just be wedding planning, and dreaming of margs in Mexico... olé!
